LATE NOVEMBER, THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS ARE IN KEY WEST IN LATE NOVEMBER, THE 17TH TO THE 21ST. Check www.superboat.com for details. Best place in the world to watch a boat race, they go by full speed, 10 feet away. There are a ton of places in Key West that are real nice. La Concha on Duval has a great pool and great location. Request a room off Duval tough, can get a little noisy at night. AGAIN, IF YOU GO DURING THOSE DATES, YOU OWE IT TO YOURSELF TO BE IN KEY WEST. They race on Wed, Sat, and Sun. Good luck.
As mentioned before Hawk's is an incredible place too, very quite. Holiday Isle is awesome too if you want to party, party, party. |

Everything you need is right there at the resort -- bars, several restaurants, shopping, gift shops, grocery store, dolphin swim/training school, adults only pool, kids pool, scuba/snorkeling/parasailing/air boat trips, water craft rentals and sailboarding. They even have a shuttle bus from the Miami Airport if you don't want to rent a car. www.hawkscay.com But call them directly - while they do have Internet specials, we got an even better deal by talking directly to the staff. (Thanks to a fellow OSO'er for the tip!!) BK, Dont want to alarm you but Key Largo and Hawks Cay are about 65 miles apart fyi. |

Boot, Have stayed in Key Largo at a freinds condo at Rock Harbor (bayside) Real nice!! On our honeymoon we stayed at the Chesapeake Resort in Islamorada. Nice place, great ocean view, affordable!! Office had some water damage but don't let that distract you. Get a room with an Ocean view you will love it! Boats....KW!!! A nice scenic ride of about 80 to 90 miles!! Have fun...never know we all may be down there at the same tme for some boat thing in KW!!

One of the beauties ( and problems) of the keys is there is only one continuous road A1A, ( so idiots like me always kwow where they are :crazy: ) Everything is located by mile markers, KW is 0 and the Jewfish Creek bridge (more importantly Gilberts Tiki bar the REAL start of the Keys :D ) is at mm 107.8.
BTW Hawks Cay is at mm 61 and the town of Key largo is centered at about mm 100 or a little under 40 miles apart. Just remember during the day you're only going to average around 35 mph, most people are on a mission to get to KW and miss some of the best the Keys have to offer. |
