Get a smaller one than that gay mushroom and install where there is no vertical obstruction. The pic is where ours is.
Waterheater you might want to try your location before drilling, windshield and throttles in the way might make interference.

43 Thunder - My vhf antenna is mounted outside by the helm.
Audacity - Loks like if I replaced my dgps antenna with my gps antenna the setup would be similar to your mounts next to the canopy. Do you have any problems with reception?
GL - mushrooms are gay? I would rather not drill a hole thru the top of my deck... good place for water to leak and cracks to start from.

Then since the wires are all ready on the other side mount it there. My Sonic used to have the VHF on the starboard side and the DGPS on the port side with the GPS antenna mounted on the dash

nope...we have 4 separate GPS's in the boat and sometimes 5...but that's only while running a laptop (CRAZY fast acquisition!)....2 are above and 2 (sometimes 3) are below. they are all (calibrated)right about the same...maybe the old ones would have a problem??? never tried installing below on anything older than 2000. zip tie it up in there....sea what happens!
