I have Lavasoft and Spybot. I would have to agree that Lavasoft seems to find junk almost everyday.

thanks guys. still try'n to get rid of this one. i have spybot and it works well except on this one. ad-aware will detect the problem and it lets me delete it but it comes right back. from what i have found there is a hidden re-loader in this bug that is very difficult to locate. luckily my PC still lets me surf the web (for the most part) i was trying to bring up the symantic home page but i was redirected to some other software site that "looked" like symantic. lucky i was paying attention to the URL and somthing didnt look right. took me a minute or to but i noticed it wasnt symantic. had to sneak in through a dogpile search.

Phknlwyr- thanks for that link, i have got some good info of that forum so far. i am going to get killbox and try it. hey is this kinda internet hijacking legal? i mean these guys altered important info on my PC with no permision from me and replaced it with all their worthless crap and to top that off want me to pay them to remove it. i keep getting this pop up now that offers virus removal. this kinda crap really pisses me off. almost feel like my house was broken into ya know.

fund razor- i was out in LP saturday night and was keeping an eye out for a 260 Scorp. my friend put his cat in over the weekend so i should be out there pretty regularly although i am still a few weeks from being in myself. hope ya make it back in the water soon. thanks for the info on BVYC. actually i havent heard anything from them yet but i guess i will now. when do they teach me the secret hand shake

OK Dave.... if the "bug" is in your "cache"... you have to do a couple of things to get rid of it... try this.... Click on "start"... click on "settings"... click on "control panel"... when the control panel opens.. find "system"... click on system... there will be some tabs at the top... one will read "performance"... click on this tab.... down at the bottom.. it will say in a box "advanced settings".. click on this.... you will see a tab that says "troubleshooting".. click on this.... then you will see some boxes... you need to check "disable system restore" check "disable system write behind" check "disable file sharing"... then you have to reboot and run Adaware again... it should clean out the cache this time... and hopefully your problem will be gone... then you need to go back to the same place and restore your setting as they were before... good luck...

Dave,
I had the same thing happen, I run SpyBot, Adware, etc etc all the time, still didn't catch or correct this thing, drove me nucking futz Try DL'ing a proggy called HijackThis v1.97.7 and run it, there is (should be) a readme with it. Do a yahoo or google search with the 'exact web page address' that keeps showing up in the address bar and there should be hits and discussions on it. HijackThis will find the file that has commandered your machine and then let you remove it.

It may also find some legit and valid files that you don't need to delete. In desparation, I deleted all the files (pests) it identified and ended up having to reload some softwares, but nothing major, just some very minor inconveniences. Afterall said and done it fixed the issue and nothing major was destroyed. Blamed my kids for that one, but not really sure it was them or where it came from?

If you can find the proggy email me and I'll send it yo you.

Install the following CWCrusher , Ad Aware , Spy Bot , and Hijackthis . This website can help you with the problem if it persists.
