More aggravation on Lake George!!!!
With less than 3 hours of acual seat time on Lake George I already have my first ticket of the season. On Sunday I was having lunch at the Algonquin with Heath from the demo race (new Slingshot with 780 Cobra's and surface drives- SWEET), when no less than 5 times did the LGPA drive directly up to the back of our boats and just stay parked there for 5 to ten minutes. When they finally saw some other prey ( Ron Abott in his Slingshot) I decided to make my break. I tied up with some friends in Log Bay for about an hour and then headed for the Boathouse. After a couple drinks I decided to head for the trailer. So I'm tied up at the marina and go to get my trailer, when I return I notice an En-Con officer talking to my girlfriend. He informs me that we need to talk when I'm done loading my boat. He ticketed me for 67 in a 45, but explained to me numerous time that"it is no big deal, doesn't go on my licence or my insurance, just a fine. I'm so f#%*&#@* tired of Lake George. I informed him that it is a big deal and I won't just bend over and pay their fine! Get your pencil ready because I will be requesting a supporting deposition and we will go to trial, but not before I cancel 3 or 4 times just to waste their time also. Does anyone know a lawyer in this region that will fight a ticket? I'm not intersted in a plea to a lesser charge I want to aggravate them like they have aggravated me. Any recomendations would be greatly appreciated.

Re: More aggravation on Lake George!!!!
Maybe the ticket is your yearly dues to the cop funds and after that would they leave you alone? Till next year of course....2005

Chuck they don't care it's not they're money, it's yours however.
Check these pics out... http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=80291 Went thru 250 gallons from Friday to Monday and we did not see ONE cop, except the coast guard pulling someone in. Also hit 80.3 MPH in 2 footers on fumes! I'm still working on Quebec city you still going? |
Re: More aggravation on Lake George!!!!
Sorry to here that. I thought with Officer Dung of the lake you were going to have a better year.

Re: More aggravation on Lake George!!!!
Chuck,
I was out yesterday and Sunday on Sacandaga and there were 2 Sheriffs boats and one State troppers boat. I saw all of them numerous times and everytime I gave them a wave they just waved back at me. Seemed to be very understanding. I had my Top Gun with the loud exhaust right next to them and didn't seem to phase them at all. I also made a few runs of 86mph (on GPS speedo) and I didn't have any problems with them. I heard they were new this year and I wasn't sure what to expect, but so far they seem to be respectful and understanding. I hope that continues. Good luck with the ticket. I just hope it doesn't cost to much to fight it and that there won't be any reprecutions (sp) next time out on the lake from them. Chris |
Re: More aggravation on Lake George!!!!
Chuck,
That SUCKS! What happened to Ron? I would DEFINITELY fight it! How do they KNOW you were going that fast because radar is NOT accurate on water! Give me a call. Shane |
Re: More aggravation on Lake George!!!!
Thanks for the replies guys. Gl, I am still going to Quebec, fee is paid, hotel reservation made. I am taking the boat to Stern Drive Spec. tonite to have the Sportmasters installed. Quebec will be their break in. LOL. Getting back to Lake George though, I think I am going to give up the battle and find a new body of water to boat on. As far as the ticket goes though I would still like some referals.
|
Re: More aggravation on Lake George!!!!
Shane, I didn't get your message till today. I was up north on Mon. at Aaron's party and my cell won't work up there. I'll call you later today and talk about hte ticket. I'll have lots of time to kill on my way out to Syracuse

Chuck, call my good good friend Tom Dinovo of Oconnell and Aronowitz in Albany @ 462-5601 He usually doesnt handle traffic stuff, but is MORE than capable of taking care of this for you. He comes up on my boat a couple times a year and was up last weekend. Talk to him or his sectretary Jackie and tell your story and let them know you are a good friend of mine. He wont hurt you at all with $$ and he can play the game |
Re: More aggravation on Lake George!!!!
Thanks Bob!!! I will call him today.

Re: More aggravation on Lake George!!!!
chuck everybody wonders why i still have a license, and the truth is, i got real good at beating tickets. here is what you do, plead not guilty, and set a date and then right before the trial, call and change it, but this is the important part, you have to change the actual day. if it is scheduled for a teus afternoon, that is that cops day in court, insist that you need it changed to thurs evening for example. they will say they can't do it. you tell them that you will never be able to make it teus because you take someone for dialysis on teus, and if you don't take them, they will die and trust me they will change the date and the judge. the odds are 90% in your favor that the officer will not show up and they will dismiss the ticket. if you can find out when the officers day off is it is even better, just try to schedule it then.

Re: More aggravation on Lake George!!!!
Thanks for the advice Jason. Hope Florida is treating you well.

Re: More aggravation on Lake George!!!!
formula, please, you don't understand, you can't ever pull away from the dock in lake george with a nice boat without getting harrassed, they are a bunch of douche bags. that is what chuck mean't by making a break for it, it just means thying to leave the dock when they are not around or they already have someone else pulled over, see in lake george you don't have to do anything wrong to get pulled over!

Chuck over 45 mph....... Never.

Re: More aggravation on Lake George!!!!
Could you have passed a BAC test at that time? .08

Re: More aggravation on Lake George!!!!
I did the same with a noise ticket last year, spent $1000.00 in attorney fees and drug it out for ever, in the end I got my $200.00 ticket reduced to $100.00. If every one would fight these stupid noise tickets and tie the system up aliitle instead of just handing over the $$$ maybe they would be alittle more selective in handing out the tickets

Re: More aggravation on Lake George!!!!
Hey Chuck, if it makes you feel any better, I got a ticket one time for unsafe acceleration. Now here's the best part...the Cop, LG Patrol I mean, said he did not even see me, just "heard me". Oh yeah, I was in a Hacker Craft at the time too! Bottom line is you can expect that type of treatment on the big weekends. Good luck with everything. By the sounds of it, it could of been worse.

Re: More aggravation on Lake George!!!!

The problem with ANY patrols on a lake is that they know the boats. Even if you are in the right, if you give them a hard time, they are gonna harrass you. Its not fair or right, but its a fact of life. The best thing to do, is just follow the rules that are set up, and thats it. If they ticket you for something bogus, go in front of Judge Harry, and fight it. I wont be back out on the Lake until next weekend as Im headed for Dover tomarrow for the races. It will be interesting once I do go out on the lake. Ill be sure to seek out these pain in the asses and see what they want on my terms. |

The USCG? On LG? I must have missed them, or they are hiding pretty well. I see your point, but you know if you go and confront them, that they are just going to make your life terrible all summer. Is it worth it??? |
Re: More aggravation on Lake George!!!!
Boy am I glad I boat on that Lake the one WE a year where those water-cops don't do anything to us!!!
Chuck must feel good he burned 100 gallons to entertain the Village and then get it up the wazzoo the following week end!!! :D:D:D Lake Champlain is still the far-west compared to you guys!!! |
Re: More aggravation on Lake George!!!!
These L.G.'s are Part time wanna be's and trying to make a name for them selves to further their careers in a real law enforcement agency. |
Re: More aggravation on Lake George!!!!
Formula,I appreciate your replies to my post but I didn't think it was illegal to have lunch at the A. Because it would make life better for myself is not a reason to put up with being bothered everytime I'm on the lake. You do make a good point though, I was speeding, and they were just doing their jobs. It wasn't however the Lg patrols job to park behind my boat no less than 5 times while I was having lunch. I do think I will give my sales tax dollars, fuel dollars, food dollars, and yes Formula even ,my alcohol dollars to a venue that will appreciate people spending in their business's and community.

Re: More aggravation on Lake George!!!!
Chuck,
I would write a letter to The Chronicle, The Post Star, The Lake George Mirror etc. I would also get the name and badge number of the cop/wannabe and tell it how it is. You may have seen I have done it about sleds. We HAVE to atart standing up to this ****. And ticketing for 67 before July 4 is nonsense! |
Re: More aggravation on Lake George!!!!
You guys will NEVER win.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but no one is going to rise from their rocking chair to groundswell for fast, noisy, fun boats they cannot afford them and hate your guts for having them. Why do you think they are all happy when you messup parking? So they can justify to their wives why they don't have them not cause they can't afford them. |

I have heard more negative comments behind my back from non performance boaters about the boat is too big and what do you need something like that on Lake George for The answer is simple Because I want to and because I can !! People get jealous because you got something bigger and nicer and all they can do is mother**** you instead of complimenting you |
Re: More aggravation on Lake George!!!!
Formula, The boat would pass the noise resrictions and I was not drunk. I only know that it would pass the noise regulations because of a similar situation last year. The situation got so bad last year I contacted an attorney and seriously considered a lawsuit, but that is a another story with a long post on this board if you are interested in reading about it. That is also the reason that this is pissing me off so much. There is plenty to do on the water without harrassing people who are up there to have fun and spend money. And as far as the officers just lokking at Bob's new boat, thats highly unlikely that they are just new fans of his. They tried to enter Bolton Landing Marina to inspect my previous boat while it was on the rack. To their dismay the guys at the marina would not allow them to enter. Just trying to give you all the info so that you understand I'm not just some ******* on a rant. Again thanks for the replies.

Re: More aggravation on Lake George!!!!
just a thought, what if we banded together and formed something like the lake george powerboat club. and we tried to work together with the lake george patrol, maybe invite them to some of our events, give them a few rides in our boats, and really let them know that we are a good group of people and that one of our main goals operating these boats is safety, just maybe if we tried this we could get them on our side, and they will start harrassing indians on jet ski's and leave us alone. Hey you never know it might just work, if you can't beat'em, join'em. this aproach works well for pokerruns america, they have a very good relationship with the authorities were ever they have events, and it is because they work very closly with them at every event. I know this sounds crazy coming from me, but i think it would be much more fun to go out and enjoy the lake without having to worry about getting pulled over everytime you go out.

I'd like to think that by being together, that we would have a chance with the Patrol, but those of you that live there, and those of us that boat there know that the LG Association rules that lake with an iron hand. All you have to do is read the minutes of their meetings to see what people have to go through to add feet to their dock. I'm glad LG is great, its clean, and beautiful, but it seems that some things are overdone by the Association, and they control the patrol.
I'm not on any bodies side. From what Chuck said, it does seem that they are being a PITA to him, so in this case, except for the speed, which he admits to, I'm on his side. |
Re: More aggravation on Lake George!!!!
Chuck, How did you make out ?? Did you call my Lawyer. I have been out two days this week but havent seen a patrol boat yet. I also talked to Ron Abbott today. He said the patrols were bothering him for having the wrong L.G. sticker on his boat. series A instead of C. They actually boarded his boat and searched his cuddy for a bathroom or porta potty !!! They will probably make an episode on CSI about this !!
lmao |
Re: More aggravation on Lake George!!!!
Oats, what's the LG sticker series A/C??
