What you need to find out is if they do test you and ticket you, can you stay on the WATER....As I mentioned earlier, others I know who were tested and ticketed were told to leave the water immediately.

They are a "piece of work" up there.

BTW I'm running KE800SC...But since I have over 200hours on them I took 1lb of boost out this winter so now they are like KE750s.

I read on the DNR web site somewhere that it was 'A' scale. I did not verify this with them when I called to get the distances for measurement.

Seems to me that if someone is mowing their lawn on shore when you are tested your going to fail, even if you don't have your engines running yet!

I actually tested my lawnmower and it did not pass. I forget which scale they used, but it was the lower of the two.

Brad-I was asked where I launched from and was told that if I was seen later that I would be ticketed again. I was not "ordered" off the water.

Sounds like it's all going to hell up in Oshkosh. Haven't had any problems, been going there for years 2-3 times per yr except for 2003. Now I hear of 4 different people that have got nailed. Something must have changed recently.

Boy I think this is getting a little blown (no pun intended) out of proportion.

This is a huge lake and there are over 100 boats involed in this event. Mark Lee has the Sheriff and DNR attend. I've talked to Mark and he doesn't expect any trouble.

This is one of the best run poker runs in the country and I hope a few poeple don't scare off the general poker run enthusiast.

Besides... Mark is running a 42 MTI with Sterling 1450s and he's not worried.

I'm sure everyone is going to have a great time at this poker run.

I was up there this past weekend for one of my Sons tournaments and I had some time to stop by the Pioneer and Rods place a few times both days and there was NOT one performance boat within site nor any big trailers etc... Rod had a few in the water but other than that, it was real quite....

DT, I think a lot has to do with the people that live up on the Wolf, Poygan and Butte..that have complained so much to the DNR. I am sure that Winnebago is big enough to not affect anyone however the problem is that most everyone starts in the City and or heads up to the river.

I thought I read somewhere that the folks living up there donated the money to afford the DNR to buy the testing equipment. What does that tell ya.

There is no longer a run "up the river". Performance marine is not a card stop this year...The whole run is on the lake now. :)

There is ONE AREA as stated before on beutamore by that damn shoreline running to Winneconnie. DNR has always BEGGED to turn mufflers on.

Joe, I agree. There won't be any problems out on the lake. Potential running Friday or Sunday on the river could be an issue, just use mufflers when you can.

Hey guys,

I thought it was about time to chime in here and thank all of the past Oshkosh Thunder members for attending one of the best Poker Runs in the Midwest. Lake Winnebago provides a beautiful backdrop for 100 boats and three helicopters again this year. The Pioneer Resort (on an Island) is a unique Poker Run spot where your boat slip, hotel room, and many restaurants are within a few hundred feet of each other. The approximate 70 mile course is ALL on open lake water and there is a new lunch stop this year. The hosting lunch site actually built an event called 'Haborfest' around our event. The community loves to have us up here and always shows appreciation. Sorry Mark I said your boat had 1450s...but I see you have 1350s instead boy I didn't realize you were so conservative with your power...what, it will only go 180 now... :drool:

This year is going to be awsome...I'll have one of the video cameras in my boat and i'll get a shot as you blow by me...we'll have to edit that in the 2004 thunderrun video this year :)

Just want to clarify that the 42 MTI is owned by Rick Perthel that started Pair-a-Dice racing. He has been a past member of Oshkosh Thunder running a yellow 42 Fountain with 900SC's. I'm just one of the lucky dogs that gets to race with him in the boat. Pics attached...

Sounds like everything will be allowed this weekend so that is a good thing. The "lake only" run should keep the barney fife's on the channel and river and away from the runners.

We are going to be up there about 10:30am Friday. Launching at the Pioneer and running up river to the Bridge Bar in Fremount for Bloodies. If anyone is interested in joining us, let us know.

I was up the river in Winneconne over Memorial Weekend. Not a DNR Warden in site. It did ran all weekend, and I don't think they like getting wet.

Friday, June 11th



3:00 - 7:00 pm Registration at The Pioneer Resort & Marina



7:00 - 10:00 pm The All Too Famous OTPR Kick-off party



Saturday, June 12th


8:00 - 9:30 am Late registration and Hot Breakfast Buffet.



9:45 am 'Sharp' Drivers meeting. All drivers must attend.

If you don't attend, you do not get card #1,

and you do not participate in the event.



10:30 am National Anthem – ‘Gentlemen, Start Your Engines!’



11:00 am Organized start of Poker Run - head North to pick up Card #2.

(For safety reasons, there will be (2) organized starts)



11:45 am Head south and arrive at Fond du Lac Yacht Club. (Card #3)



2:00 pm Organized Departure from the FDL Yacht Club - head to Striech's

(The Cove) south of Oshkosh for card #4.



3:00 pm Head East to Cal Harbor Tower. (Card #5)

5–6:00 pm Return to Pioneer Resort & Marina.

Thank you for posting the schedule. It is mostly correct, except that the actual course has been changed slightly. You will get a map at the drivers meeting when we finalize it. Please note from previous posts on this thread that the lunch stop has been changed from Fon du Lac to Stockbridge.

Might be pretty busy out on the lake this weekend. Fond du Lac is hosting the annual "Walleye Weekend" fishing tournament. I think that's why the card stop must have been changed from Fond du Lac to Stockbridge.

Actually one of the main reasons the lunch stop is at Stockbridge is from the great response from Julie Heuvelman (Calumet Planner) who has been instrumental in setting up the harbor for our group. They are starting an annual event around our run called Harborfest that is family orientated and will allow kids to participate in a 'Meet the drivers' atmosphere. Although we love going to FDL, and have had an overwelming welcome in the past years, one of the goals of Oshkosh Thunder is to expose ALL local business on the Winnebago System to the Poker Runners. This gives the club members a choice of more places to go along with giving the local businessman a chance for more customer activity. We hope that we will be able to keep boating on the river systems to help the restaraunts there with the struggle to get by as more and more boaters are being restricted from the areas.

Well here we are all loaded up and ready to head north from Chicago on Friday. It was 79 degs when we left. And it was 55 foggy, rainy, windy when we arrived in Oshkosh.

I believe there were 94 boats all together.

What is the story about the DNR waiting for everyone to issue tickets for noise? I am not even close to 86db. I was told they sat at the lunch stop harbor entrance with about 6-7 wardens. Unfortunately I broke a blower belt trying to keep up with Pair-a-Dice. We had to idle back. So maybe that saved me a fine from Wisconsin's famous DNR.

They were stopping people at entrance and in the harbor. I only know of one person (the Outer limits) that got a ticket for noise.
I checked mine with my db meter and I was 95 with the mufflers on and 102 with them off on the A scale.
They need to fix that issue.

Other then that it was a fun time.
