Anyone have experience with the new Merc 1075's yet?

I checked the forums for my answer first, but didn't quite see it there. Does anyone have any personal experience with the New Merc 1075's yet? Other than the purchase price, does anyone here either have them or know someone who does? I saw the mention of the new 51' OL with the package. The owner may not have had them quite long enough yet for the feedback I'm looking for.

Specifically, there was a Tiger in the in-water portion of the Miami show this year with the 1075's. Does anyone know this boat, or the owner? I had heard that this person was able to get over 100 hours on the engines before having to do a rebuild. Does anyone know if this is true, or just a rumor? If its true, I'd love to know about it. I know the purchase is suppose to include a 50 hour service, but I was hope to get some insight on any experiences past that point.

Your help and opinions are appreciated! :D

Hey BCC!!!!

How goes it?

If your still in Cali, I would go with some proven Pfaff engines over the Merc's. I'm not badmouthing Mercury at all, they are just new technology and we all know that there might be a bug or two that will have to be worked out!! That's alot of $$$ to be a Guinea pig!! Just my .02

Craig :) :)

Re: Anyone have experience with the new Merc 1075's yet?

Hi Craig! Thanks for the response. Actually, I'm still out in New York, I just never changed the location on OSO. My bad! I love the Pfaff products too (from my experience). They sure make a nice product. However, Pfaff is just not in the backyard of Long Island. We hope to pay Pfaff a visit when we are out in Cali in about 6 weeks.

So, I'm looking for some specifics on the 1075. Oh, and things are just peachy keen......thanks for asking!

BCC,
I think the boat you are refering too is "American Muscle" a Rough Rider 46 that is currently used by the factory for promotion.
A lot of test and articles written about it.
My humble opinion.
You in NYC for the run?

Re: Anyone have experience with the new Merc 1075's yet?

Yep! That's the boat. Wow, I was way off saying it was a tiger. I must be getting alzheimer's. Sorry. Darn, not sure if I'm going to get the feedback I'm looking for if its factory owned. Hmmm, and you're right about Richie Zul being on Long Island. Just looking for a little different way to "skin the cat". That's all.

Yes, we'll be at the NYC run this weekend. Hopefully with the OL. You know, last minute tinkering and all. Looks to be an interesting weekend....

If I remember correctly, and right now that's a BIG if, I believe that American Muscle (what a gorgous gorgous boat) blew a tranny at the PRA event in Sarasota a short while back.

I just loved that boat.

The factory rep told me how much would put it in my driveway. Unfortunately, I was just a little shy of the required amount.

Hi Anna!

I hung out with Greek Lightning for a little while at Smoke on the Water. He had the 1075 package in his new 42x. He loves them. The idle great, start easily, and Merc is/was offering a rebuild after 60-70 hours (I think).

Cigarette pulled theirs at 80-90 hours from American Muscle (they were still running fine). Merc tore them down and found only a small amount of wear to the engine. This info came from Bud.

Heres a shot of Greek Lightnings package.

BBC,
I thought you were boatless and running in John's OL, which has new Sterlings? What are you looking to put the 1075's in? Or am I just confused?? Have you guys heard from Gregg recently?? Seems to have fallen off the earth....

LEOPAJM,

I have not had any problem and I'm also not aware of any problems with the pair Cigarette is running in American Muscle. I am completely satisfied with the motors and would highly recommend them. I do remember there was a problem with the belt on the 1050's a couple years ago that Merc was going to release but nothing with the 1075's.

ENOUGH !! Get the new boat built with the 1075's we'll run'em side by side and that's that ! Hell you already know that they run well, THEY FREAK'N IDLE GREAT, and they use pump gas. I'm the one who can break anything, that horseshoe up your azz will keep your chit working regardless of other peoples experiences so why even ask about "their" problems  Knowing what I know about the driveability of the 1075's if your new boat runs with mine, the Sterlings will be for sale the next morning......God I haven't owned stock Mercs in 20 years.............

JM How did you ever get a boat built in your life? You analyze chit more than the cia.

Between the amount of time it takes you to decide on what you are going to build and the time it takes the boys to build one, I expect to see you kicking my azz in 2016. By then Tommy at Chief Engines will have perfected a naturally aspirated 540 cid motor making 3200 hp, that runs on lemonade and needs a rebuild every 40 years.

BTW 3-5 foot following sea from Chicago to Grand Haven this weekend for Ancestral Spirit and Primal Instinct. 2 1/2 hours straight of throttling. Broken parts talley? Two bent wind deflectors on PI from his imitation of Sean Connery in Red October. Dive Dive Dive

Just order it. I'll get it sold. NK

Had to go south to Hammond for petrol first.

Several pee stops and numerous drying off sessions also. See how the chugging turns into hauling in no time? I've never boated with you erie boys in rough water but I am willing to bet you would have had smiles on your faces. Two more big dogs running with us would have made for a pretty site. Aso would have made for four boats on lake mich instead of two. I can never figure out where everyone else is when it's like that? NK

Ditto Man. Curt, John and I are coming off the world tour of drinking in the last 4 weeks. Milwaukee, Chicago, Saugatuck and of course our very own watering hole, The Kirby Grill, Grand Haven, Mi. "Hello"

We should hit between 2 am and 8am Friday depending on how much beauty sleep Primal boy needs. Regardless, a couple of red bulls and we will be raring to go. Looking forward to riding alongside the big gun again. :drink: NK
