Synthetic Oil does not draw the heat out of the valve springs as well as "real" motor oil.

For those of you that mentioned running A/C Delco filters. Any idea what the part # would be for the 496's?

Use water instead...it transfers heat even better than conventional oil dude.

....fyi.. it has been shown at length that synthetic oil decreases heat. More than conventional oil could ever remove...

Kendall racing 20w-50 with Fram HP-6 filters. Using parallel dual bell housing coolers on a Bravo set-up. 750 HP 509 CI. Hi flow system and always cool.

I've been using Mobil 1 15w50 in a full roller motor for 7 seasons with no problems. This fall during the winterization process I filled it with Mobil 1 v-twin.
