Just curious. the lowest viscosity I have seen used is a
10W-40 Super Premium.
Illmor tested the Dodge Viper marine engines and found the 10W-30 for street was not sufficient to develop a proper film at constant nearredline use.. so they moved up to 15W-50 Mobil-1.

Some very intensive tests show now that 5W-30 or 10W-30 synthetic oil such as Mobil-1 are equal or better than 30wt dino juice. If you have 260HP you probably have a 350 Chevy that could easilly take a 15W-40 or 15W-50 either of which is superior to 30wt.
Teague says if you use straight weight oils to use:
30wt for cool climates
40wt for moderate climates
50wt for hot climates.
If you go straight conventional he is correct in these suggestions.
