The best thing about Ft Desoto is that there is always parking! They let you park as far up the road as necessary. Big overflow area just outside the parking lot. Best ramps in Florida too. 11 of them if I remember correctly.

You will not be able to use the 10st ramp Saturday or Sunday.......They always close the whole site to the public during the weekend.

Is the 10 st. ramp the Van Wezel ramp?
I saw on the Suncoastoffshore. org site that there are events planned there for sat.
I guess I am thinking too of launching in St. Pete and enjoying the ride down.

Yes, The 10 st is the Van Wenzel ramp. In fact that whole area is the dry pits. The best place for large rigs around there is gonna be Ft. Desoto. There is nothing in Sarasota thats can handle lg. rigs other then 10 st. It should be a nice ride down to sarasota from St. Pete. Just remember to watch the sky. Every year after the race the sky looks scary to the East cause are summertime storms are just arriving from the East coast.

I called the Chamber of Commerce yesterday, they did tell me that the ramp would be closed all weekend, what about the ramp on Lido Key, I was there last year they put in all new ramps and docks.
