My 97' 2500Burb (3.73) 7.4L got 13.5 hwy non towing, and about 8 towing 6000#. Sold the truck with 200K on it and no tranny problems and always towed in O/D. The old 7.4 still wasn't using any oil, which I can't say about the 8.1L in the 01' Burb I just sold with only 48k on it.
