Beware of Cobalt, I can't believe I'm admitting this!

I was running down the lake Saturday, and a new Cobalt pulled up next to me. We both got into the throttles, and he was pulling away from me slightly  Fortunately a lake lice cut in front of me and I had to shut down before I got too embarrased :( It was the only time ever I actually didn't mind being cut off :D :D I hear it had 575's in it. He was running a strong 80! YES I just opened the door for the Apache comments! :drink:

Yeah, you know how GM will sometimes drape a new model in vinyl when taking out the test mule. :D :D

Hey it's all good...
Beware of an Envison at LOTO as well, the guy plays hard and runs over 100mph with an open bow, IMCO extreme hanging off the transom with a 5-blade Hering and for power... well let's just say he has plenty of it... :)

And he probably beat you while holding a glass of champagne while his women were sunning on the deck. Cobalt makes excelent boats if you like bowriders.

There was a new 34 cobalt in our shop two weeks ago, it had 525's XR's. It was sweet. While on the topic of sleepers there is a new 22 crownline in Texas to watch out for now, 630hp.

Given Cobalt's reputation for quality and workmanship (look at one really close some time!), I'm glad to see them coming into the performance market with their new 34. They're going to force all the peformance manufacturers to re-think their claims about quality. Can't wait to see something bigger from them.

There is a 28' Sea Ray by me with twin HP500's. The only thing that gives it away is the lope coming from the through hulls.

I was out last summer, some old lady in a beat up old 23 foot Larson, faded, to hell and back. Kept waving for me to go, so I jump on it, why not, she gets on it too, my jaw fell through the floor. Procharged.

I hear you. A couple in our harbor just boat a brand new Power Quest 280SC(like the one below) with twin 496mag HO's. That big thing hauls some azz!

War,

That thing went flying by the house Saturday afternoon against the
rev limiter! :)

Heard it coming and thought it was some of the normal loud bling.....what
a big shock, that thing was moving pretty good and flew by Compton
in his fountain before he had time to react.

Re: Beware of Cobalt, I can't believe I'm admitting this!

I met a guy down at Kerr lake a few weeks ago running a 22 Crownline. Talk about a sleeper. This was one bas ass boat! Looked completly stock, other than a very dark smoked windshield. Sounded NASTY!!

He made a run by me and was hauling. He had 850HP in this 22 foot open bow and ran 83 with my gps in his boat. Chine walking made him back out and he had a lot left.

That same weekend, I met a guy in a 24 HTM with a 540 and 600+ HP. He was running in the 80's with five decent sized adults in his boat. That HTM was rock solid going across the water.

What part of Texas? All of the locals know about me and my 600+hp whipplecharged 502, but the newbees are still alot of fun. :D

Re: Beware of Cobalt, I can't believe I'm admitting this!

HAHA, I like doing just that to the lake lice who think they are the fastest thing on the lake. I came up behind this guy the other day just taking his time making huge s turns blocking the river. He finally realizes I am behind him and straightens out, leans forward and guns it. I look over at my girlfriend, she says "you just have to do it don't you" I smile and go WOT. I am driving a cobalt 223 with a 454 mag, bravo one, corsa thru hulls. Of course this guy keeps looking back and is confused that I am closing in on him. I pass him and eventually come to my cove and set anchor. As I am setting anchor he comes by and waves and inquires to how I beat him. I am just on a small inland lake, but it is fun being a sleeper.

Re: Beware of Cobalt, I can't believe I'm admitting this!

Pack and the boys at Cobalt have always built a top notch product and they have done their homework on the new designs. Maybe Paxton has something to do with that. This boat is also filled with creature comforts.

Re: Beware of Cobalt, I can't believe I'm admitting this!

Worst hurt I've ever had put on me was by a 252 cobalt with a 502 and a procharger. I thought we were even until he finally gave it some gas. :( Beat me with 5 people and a Golden Retriever in it.!

Nice boats, quite a few of them around IA, and some of them are sleepers...!

Saw this boat at CPR at LOTO this spring waiting for the new, INSANE power!
he should name it "Fountain Hunter" as he like to pull up beside fountains (others too) and leave them sitting! Insane boat, a real cool sleeper.

The reason you heard it going by full out is because the owner of Cobalt or may be his son have the horrible job of getting to run that baby all summer and the goal is to try and break something. Wish I could get a new Fountain each year and run the pi$$ out of it so they could see what I could break.
