Looking to get a new or used truck GMC 3500 4x4 crew dually.
What are you guys getting for gas mileage with the 6.0, 8.1, and the diesel, also what about in a older 96-00 with the 7.4 all with auto transmission. All the info you can give would be great i'm really undecided on this. I don't particularly want a diesel, but I also don't wan't to be driving around in something that gets 6 miles a gallon.
Thank You, Kirk

I have a 2000 Classic 2500 4wd with a 454/Auto. It isn't a dually and I pull down 11-12 mpg around town, 14-15 on the open road and 9.5 mpg towing anything with the A/C on. Hope this helps! Consider a couple of miles with the dually and the gear difference.

I had a 1999 Chevy 454 crewcab dually......got 10mpg around town......12 on the highway......and 8mpg towing.....that thing about sucked me dry!
but it was the best handling truck ive had! Couldnt even tell there was a 30' scarab behind me...pulled strong and liked to run at about 72mph.....even had it up as high as 90 chasing a hot chick once!

Diesel, diesel, diesel....
One more thing.
Go diesel.
I have a 2500 Avalanche with the 8.1L. Gas mileage = I wish I had a diesel.
I love the truck, and got a steal on it, which helps offset the price of gas and frequency of fill ups. Towing 12K lbs, I think I am getting 6 mpg.

I'm driving a Duramax diesel dually and I got 10.0 towing the Black Thunder back and forth to Smoke. Thats at 65 -70 mph on the freeway. 16-18 normal driving unloaded. Resale makes up for the initial purchase price. I highly recommend one.

03 GMC,SWB,CC 4X4. I run the Edge + Attitude, 5" exhaust. 8" Fab-Tech, 37" tires. Running in level 3 will net me approx. 16-17mpg at 70mph. 80mph and it drops to approx 15mpg. Pulling a 30' Eliminator at 75mph will net around 9-10mpg. Sam
