3" Trailer Winch Straps
 

Does anyone know where to get 3" wide winch straps. Everyone carries 2" but I have been unable to locate anyone with 3".

I know I picked up a set from there. Now whether they were 2 inch or 3 I don't remember....:(

Had the same issue with my trailer a few years ago. Couldn't find them anywhere. Here's what worked just the nuts. In the Overtons catalog, there is a section for boat hoists/lifts. They had a diagram of two 3 inch wide straps to go under and lift small boats. At each end of the strap was a triangle shaped hook. I cut off the one hook. That end attached to the winch pulley without any other modifications. Obviously the other end attaches to the boat. To do so, I went to Home Depot and found the correct hook that I attached to the triangle shaped hook at the end of the winch strap. I believe the strap is 10 ft long. Has worked fine for my 10,000 # boat.As you know, those winch straps don't last long sitting out in the sun,etc. I hope this helps!--Lou

I have 1" to 12" nylon and polyester webbing. Send me an e-mail with the length and hook style and I will give you a price. The top picture shows a 1",2",3",8" sitting on a 24" lifting strap.

Warparty - I also sent you an email but here is what I need;

I have a 353 Formula that's about 10,000 pounds and this is for the trailer winch. I need a 3" wide strap and 15' to 20' in length. It need to hook to the bow eye so I need some type of metal hook on that end. The other end has a loop sewn into it that a 3 1/4 by 5/16 bolt is fed through. Let me know if this is something you can do.

Have been able to order 3" straps from Eagle Trailer in the past, but I know they have had some difficulties recently. I'm not sure if they are still filling orders right now.

Home Depot has two versions. I think the 200lb straps are red. I just bought the 300lb straps which are black. I only use them to tie down the back of a 27ft boat to the trailer, and after my first 60 mile ride, the ratchets were all bent up. I need heavier ones too.

I have HD ratchet straps in stock. They will not break. I can make them any length, and with any hooks that you see on the board above.

I shipped a 3" x 15' strap with hook & bolt loop to a fellow OSO member today, and he should have it tommorrow. OSO price is $25.00(plus freight) which is about cost with the industrial materials. If you need a 20' it will be $30.00. We can also do a 2" or 4" if anyone needs them. I am looking at stainless hardware for ratchet straps, is this a dumb idea? It will look cool, but be more expensive and unnecessary. The breaking strength on the webbing is 9800# per inch(1" 9800#, 2" 19600#, 3" 29400#), but the hooks to fit the rings on the boats are not as strong.

Yes Rich just sent me one. I gave your name and number to West Marine and Wolfs Dive Shop, one of the biggest boat warehouses in MI, they don't have them and can't find them. I bet this will make the phone ring. I have looked for months for one of these, I have asked every person I know or see who boats and no one knows. I had a Manning trailer that had one and it was great. I have a 2" now that replaced a cable, it is too weak and the stitching on the hook scares me to death. I can't wait to get it and install it. Got it today, holy crap, I could pick up a house with this hook :) Real nice blue color and a bow hook that could be used to pull a jumbo jet. It is raining now but as soon as it stops I am putting it on and then I'll take some pictures. This is exactly like I wanted and for $25 is a great deal. You should sell thousands of these here, everyone with a 2" or a cable needs to replace it with one of these. Thanks a ton, I'll keep sending people your way, I bet at the launch people will be asking also.

It stopped raining so I put it on. It fits between the winch nicely, no room to fold or wrap. My drum has a welded center post with a bolt thru it. There are also some small holes on either side of the center post. I ran a long bolt thru the loop and holes to hold it in the drum. I hooked it to the trailer and cranked hard, the strap is not moving yet but is winding tight on the drum. I am sure it will break in and tighten after a few launches. I would say 10ft would be enough but I think this will work fine. It is really heavy duty and the stitching does not stress at all which is where I wanted the strength, that and the hook, this one is major and will never break. I have a Fulton winch and it is 3" wide but nothing special.

Do you have different color's??

Also, if your going to market these, you ought to market rear tie downs also, the stainless ones you mentioned earlier would be super cool!!!! How much???

Awesome is right! I've gone thru 2 ea. 2" straps this year on a 3" winch. I was going fabricate some spacers for the pulley, but this 3" strap sounds like the cats ass.

I have 2" ratchet tie downs for the transom. They are much stronger than the ones at the marine stores. They are $15.00 each plus freight. Blue is the only color I have right now. I looked into stainless, and they are expensive and not as strong as what we have now. If you send me an address, I also need to know if it is a business or residence. Freight(ups) is cheaper to a business.

My drum only measures 2.25" wide. What do the rest of you guys drums measure? I've got a cable on mine now, and I hate it.

A 2" strap is all you can get in there, but a 2" strap is a lot stronger than your winch is.

I have had a chance to use mine quite a bit now, no stretching, folding or stitch pulling. This will last longer than the boat!! I can't believe they can make a 3" winch and not a 3" strap, you are the only one in the world from what I can see, I tried for months with no luck, it's almost as if they have never used their winch before, what a joke. I should order another just in case you decide to stop some day like 10 years from now...wait, I'll sell them then :) .
