Sorry to hear about your engines. Welcome to the team. (Mine may be back in the water soon.)

My only advise is not to skimp in any way on the parts or the engine builder. I have no reason to believe you would, just wanted to get in my $0.02. If you are sticking with carbs then you have alot of choices in builders. Go with whom you think is the best and provides the best follow up service, especially since you are upgrading the HP. Also, you are right to think about the resale, the boat will be worth more if the buyer is familiar with the engine builder. That's an advantage of going with a big name.

- Bob Teague
- Gary Teague
- Brummett
- Dunsmore (near Vegas)
- There's a couple guys in Havasu.

Pfaff and Gary Teague are closest and have a decent rep.

Another marine engine builder that seems to do good things is Larry Peto in Tucson, AZ. I know a few people who have used his motors ad they have been happy. http://www.larrysengine.com

I have been getting pricing from a few...Teague, Pfaff, RPM, Pacific Marine Center. I will make a decision soon. I recieved an "in writing" quote from RPM (Tempe, Az.) today and they quoted me $4,884.28 to rebuild each HP500 carb. motor. That's as long as nothing is damaged or unusable. I thought that was a pretty good price.
I'm waiting on a price from Pfaff. Teague was approx. $8K per motor, but they would be balanced and blueprinted.

Has anyone used RPM in Tempe???

Maybe you can save money by not dyno'ing the engines since they are not changed from stock.

I'll let you know what they all want to charge me to do the rebuild. So far, I spoke to Rich @RPM, Steve @ Pfaff and Dino @ Teague and they were all very cool.
I'll wait until I get all the info.

You know who I would go with (Teague). The service I have gotten from them is much better than anywhere else I have been hands down. It is the only place my boat will go from now on. On top of that they build some great motors, but they are a little expensive.

I just dropped it off the other day and while I was inside filling out the paper work they had put the cover on the boat and unhooked it from my truck.

The last time I picked it up after service they had completely washed the boat and trailer including putting dressing on the trailer tires.

I know he has fixed motors that were out of warranty in the past without charging the customers. These were blower motors with over a year of use on them. Can't beat someone who stands behind their product.
