Races? Key West!
Pleasure Boating? Keys if you like saltwater.
1000 Islands, freshwater, beautiful scenery and shoals to rip off your outdrive.
You WILL need a chart for either place.
I say, do them both.

I guess it depends on when you want to go.... KW or the 1000 Islands in July, flip a coin..... January, well that's another story... 
The 1000 Islands are spectacular, but a trip to the Keys is something that stays with you for a long time.
