I think Raylar is working on the Duramax marinization. Has anyone ever seen these engines? www.65-62dieselengine.com
I spoke with a guy there named eric. Says they have a twin turbo diesel applicatoin, similar to the Marine Diesel Prodcuct that is putting out 400 hp@ 3800. What do you think?

BTW. We still have left 1 more Marine Diesel Hammerhead 300 hp engine In stock It is our Demo model. Selling it way below retail. Would be a great deal for a single repower.

We are currently working on a 33 Scarab with a pair of hammerheads. 300s we will run the the stock 300s first and then upgrade the engine to 330@4000 rpm. At that Point I Can let you know the perfomance numbers. The trick will be finding the right prop to maximize the incredible tourque that the engines produce at 1700 rpm. 525 lbs @ 1700. Acceleration won't be a problem, but top end is our concern. Our ratio on the drive is 1.5 Should have numbers soon.

What drives are you using?
Should be an interesting project.

And y use the 300hp and not the 400hp version?

The 400 is not out yet and may not be out for a while. There are some emmisions issues that the factory should be squaring up, been so for a while. There is a guy Eric, I think in newyork that maufactures a marine version. He has a twin turbo version that puts out 400 hp. waiting to hear from him on numbers also. At this point the 330 is the highest hp that they make. here is a pic of the scarab.

I figured the 1.5 because we could pull a larger prop and take advantage of the torque. Not etched in stone though. Got Any Ideas?

I run a pair of the 6.5 litre GM diesels in a 28 footer. they're 325hp single turbos.

It runs 71mph, using merc 4 blade b1's 30" pitch, on 1.36:1 Bravo 1 drives.

to achieve the top speed, it over revvs a little (should max out at 3600, but revs to 3800/3900).

If I were to go up on pitch to get the rpm's where they should be, the turbo lag would give real issues getting on plane, so I put up with the slight over rev.

I've been thinking of drilling some vent holes in the prop hubs to let them spin up a bit easier getting outt'a the hole.
