WOW, as usual the LEOPA crew did a great job and the weather seems to always come around. We had WickedWon ready to go but decided to run the Concept ( the forcast was for flat water ) and see more people and take some pictures, I'm glad we did cause now I know it doesn't matter if you're crusing at 65 mph in the middle or 105mph at the front it's all good (don't tell anybody but it's actually more fun in the middle ;). The cloudy conditions the first half made for lousy pics but I'll post what we got as Mary pulls them off the camera. Again great time, great people and a great mix of hardware.

New LEOPA members Ian & Donna on Patriyacht, pleasure meeting ya !

We tried to get out early so we could stop and get pics as they went by, I think this pissed off the Maximus boys, did they really think i'm gonna try and spank'em with the Center Console  Unfortunately the boat rolling in the wakes made for bad pics. We did catch LEOPAJM's Saber, and after all the big thunder that ran by us all day NOTHING compared to this sucker with all three blower motors at full boogie. If the site ( roostertail) and sound of this thing going by doesn't give ya "wood" Viagra ain't gonna help !

Re: LEOPA Pic's

how can you say NOTHING sounds as good as the saber? there was some serious hardware running out there, can any boat that isn't pulled from old apache (i.e. saber & concept) molds be given any credit for being cool? you can't tell me a gladiator doing a fly by at 20 feet away going 100mph don't sound good. yeah the sabers are well built and have nice hardware but how can you deny how trick the maximus is? get off the saber band wagon once in a while and give credit where credit is do. i know of two gadiatiors , two top guns , and one tiger that were pretty impressive as well, granted they were faster and only had twins. there were two #6 boats to run the wickedwon, but only the fishinone (AKA wickedtwo) showed how come?

Re: LEOPA Pic's

Wow, am I not allowed to have my opinion, that's all it is, my opinion. If we don't all march to the same drummer is that bad ? Would it make you happier if everybody had a blue Gladiator ? My wife and I had a great time with our friends last weekend, thats why we were there, the boats are secondary. Speaking of boats you made several derogatory comments over the weekend about my Concept, I know it's not as cool as your Gladiator but we all can't be as cool as you and your boat, I can live with that but please don't turn LEOPA events into something other than what they've always been, good people having a good time.

BTW Did you notice that your boat was one of the first pics I posted ? Would you have taken the time to take and post a picture of my boat ? There are tens of thousands of voices applauding Cigarettes everyday, please don't be threatened by my lonely voice when it comes to these old obsolete turds that I happen to dig.

Hey Three Post Todd:::

I dont have a dog in this fight ,,, However,,, I dont think its "cool" to do a flyby at 100mph at 20 feet away,,,, Gladiators have a tendency to Hook and Roll.

I dont think its fair to make a comparison of a new 3-500K boat ie: Two Cigs, One Tiger, and Two Gladiators ,,,to a 100K fishboat!!

I do remember a Gladiator and several Older Cigs trying to catch,(and never did) my 7yr old Resin Bucket all day long on this same Poker Run,,,

and if you think that those light Potato Chip Hulls will ever run a Lake Erie Northeaster, your just plain Nuts!!

and i would not put Mr. Wicked One to the test if I was you,,, He has been out there for 3 or 4 yrs with the Saber and I have never yet seen the boat that will Leave that old Turd behind !!!!

Having expressed myself accordingly ,, I remain, RHC

Hey Jimbo
I kinda like these, "OLD OBSOLETE TURDS", "LUMPY OLD RESIN BUCKETS" myself. I like the weight, the style, and the HANDLING of these OLE TURDS. I'd like to see some of these new boats keep up with yourself and Nauti Kitty in some of that Lake Erie water on a "GOOD" day. Ya know my boat was originally named "FIGHTER SQUADRON-CODE NAME: TONTO", but I think I'll give ya'll the stripes for being the airborn crowd! If we don't hurry up and get married, I don't know if my boats EVER going to hit the water this year.

Hey, BTW, what are ya'll doing this weekend? We're driving to Chicago on Sat. and will be there 'till next Fri. maybe we can get together.

This run gave allot of opportunity to meet and talk with many people. Everybody was great and Debbie and I had a ball. Maybe next time I will have the Chi-Town Hustler there. Should be back in action by LOTO shoot-out.

Great hardware at the run. Many nice Cigs as well as Sabre(s). RHC, you are one crazy dude. Missed you guys at the bay and island. Cell phones were dead on Sunday.

that Ohio Steel is a nice piece of hardware. very good lookin boat. anybody know how fast it is? looks serious with #6's and staggered blower motors. i was told it had a removable beak for the Catalina ski race (no chit) so it could fit within the size limit.

Wow, I didn't realize that was the Ohio Steel. Very serious looking boat. Never got to see it run.

Re: LEOPA Pic's

Yours is out of the water...

Mine is floating but has that shift issue still. I needed to take a couple days off after the season I have had with these two boats.

Tonight I will go down and mess with it. Maybe over the weekend I'll take it down to the hoist and yank it. Part of me wants to hurry up and get it repaired. Part of me wants to save money and start planning the strategy for next year.

If I am keeping the boat, I may hold off and do new volvo drives. If not I might do the repair on the OMC and stick that puppy on Boattrader.

Dave,
Ken and Lauren are friends of ours and just joined the club. They are also on OSO under the name BAD GIRL (Lauren signed on).
He bought it this spring out of California and has been getting to know the boat and how it handles (yes it has a removable beak). He has a strange carb problem going on one side so he took it easy and we just had a laid back run all day. I have been on the boat a couple of times and it was a whole different type of boating :D
As far as speeds go It has an impressive history for a 42 foot heavy turd ;)
Hey where have I heard that before LOL

Scott
