My story was too long to post here but here is a link. To summarize:

1. Created custom design for my new 28' Magic Cat.
2. Was made comfortable that they would not duplicate it.
3. They duplicated it in either the mold next to mine, at least in the mold after mine was released.
4. Owner told me either take your money and leave or we'll make you another boat and "I won't guarantee I won't copy it again" and that all he cares about is "taking the order, taking your $20,000 and making a boat"

After a few demands, he called me a few times, I think to shorten my laundry list of complaints and to quiet what he knew would be published.

Sorry, I don't usually complain about anything, but this boat was huge to me. I expect integrity with my builder. I did not find that in Magic.

Move on and go to another builder who will treat you right. I personally think that magic/sleekcraft builds a mediocre boat. The owner obviously doesn't care about his customers. Word gets around quickly, I'm sure other people will be glad to know about the owners lack of interest in making his customers happy. If I was looking at their boats, I would go away from them after this.

They are IDIOTS for building that piece of sh*t 44' cat they built a few years ago. Who the hell wants a 44' magic cat??? The thing was such a PIG, it had 3x 900's and it ran 95mph!!!

When you say "Design" was it a design they needed to make a new mold to fabricate or was it a paint design?

Did you have it trademarked? Copyrighted? How did you protect your self? If someone saw it on the water, couldn't they duplicate it?

It was a gel coat design, not copyrighted. I understand the legality of it. And if I had copyrighted it, I would have them in court today. I also understand that eventually if it was cool enough someone would copy it.

Magic copied it either while mine was in the mold or seconds after mine came out. Don't you think they could have waited until I had it in the water???

AND . . . we discussed duplication, THEY SAID THEY WOULD NOT DO IT. I am questioning their ethics and integrity, not their criminal actions.

Hey Gerard! Long time bro. I don't know if you know. Michelle is the finance girl over there. Actually she was AWESOME! She was very honest about the whole deal. Hope that doesn't bring up bad memories.

Yes that 44 is a big fat box. I never understood that one either!

I hope it works out for you in the end and you are happy with whatever boat you buy. Michele who?? just kiddding. Keep us posted with your situation.

If the guy is that much of a strap job I'd give my $$$ to someone else.

Majic is no comparison to a Spectre. Call me and well make you a 30 Spectre Classic. Custom one off NEVER to be replicated that will smoke that Majic back to yesterday. 10 times the quality. I 100% garantee you won't be disapointed!
