JAdams - Welcome to the board!
My dad used to race with yours and Pepe as well in the 70's too...Good to have another "2nd" generation member! I've got a few Signature brouchures etc. too but here's the Signature that I remember most. It was a 38' Hardtop - pictured here in Newport Beach CA in 1979 at the Bushmills race. This boat was truly ahead of it's time - I was only 12 in '79 but I can remember at the race it made quite an impression on the crowd.

It's great to see all this interest in Signature's and their history. We raced a 28 Signature, all red called "Empty Pockets" in APBA, USO, and SBI from 1990 to 1993 when we had serious accident in the Key West World Championships.
We barellrolled and went end over end 2-1/2 times before landing upside down ---stern first ripping the drives and deck off the boat. Whitenesses thougt we were all dead but we survived with a broken ankle and other minor injuries. We raced in production A--twin small blocks with Bravo drives.
The boat consistently ran in the upper 80's and always amazed me at how fast we could push her in rough races like Pt Pleasant and Key West. I had this boat built in 1990 by a guy who had some Signature molds in FL and later moved to Cape Cod.

During this same time Peter Myer was racing Lady L which had an incredible history and won many races.

I currently have a 38 Signature that I had built in 1993 that is balsa cored and vacuum bagged. It was built in one of the molds that guy had who I don't think is in business any more.
I modified the deck, cockipit and engine compartment extensively to make it more modern looking. In the process I moved the fairing back about 30 inches. I got about 90% done rigging this boat with triples and Bravos but situations forced me to put it in storage for a bunch of years so it has never been in the water. Hopefully this Summer I'll get her finished! To J Adams, your Dad built one of the best offshore boats ever. Also, I have heard other successful boats have been built from the 27/28 Signature. For you history buffs, in addition to Pantera, there were some 38 Excaliburs built using the 38 Signature mold. Somewhere in my archive of old Powerboat Magazines I have their boat test and pictures of the 38 Excalibur/Signature.

Lee,
Yes, those are pictures of my boat. It came from the same molds as Surgin General's boat. I modified the deck on mine moving the fairing back and reshaping the aft section of the deck. Now I just need to find the time to work on it.
