Caravelle, ive heard of them, but nothing about them. I know they arent known for speed, but I found a good deal on one, 1997 caravelle 23 foot interceptor with a 454 penta. It looks kinda cool, much like the 26 foot crownline (forgot the model). Very clean, but has the ugliest seat covering ever, teal, pink and yellow, the 80's are over, man! Any ways, its closer than any of the bajas, and a couple grand cheaper. So i think this is my top choice so far. There is also a 300 horse 2000 23 foot rinker captiva cuddy. Just mint, looks great. How fast would that thing go?

Just looking of comments and opinions.

Thanks,

Phil

This is just my 2 cents........I'd rather pay a few grand more for the Baja or Scarab then the Caravelle.

Yeah, your probibly right, the caravelle has like 500 hours on it, he claims the key was left in it for 5 days, i dont know if thats actually believable.

Careful. We had a 95 with a 350/Alpha combo. Screws worked their way out, battery boxes came loose. Stress cracks abounded. Yeah, it was run hard. But we ran it against my Condor (Superboat Copy), and I saw none of that stuff. My boat was less expensive, and it handled the rough stuff better. Plus, it had a real cuddy!
Some of the 22's around were "first-outs" and they tended to be of a lesser quality.
But, boy, is it a sharp looking 22! Be careful, and spend the $$$ on a survey.

For around your price range or less you might consider a Formula 242.

i just purchased a 98 29 scarab and like yourself was on a budget. i was originally looking for 24-26 as new as possible but decided to go a little older and bigger. so instead of a 2002-2004 23-25 ft i decided on a 98 29footer...best decision i ever made. i looked at 24 outlaws, as well as 25 outlaws and there nice inexpensive boats...but after crawling threw all of them the fit and finish on the scarab had me sold. good luck in whatever you decide. ....just my opinion

Dont Forget about the Donzi 22zx. Great boat in rough water same speed as the Scarab and Baja and has the cabin. With the 454 or the 502 its a great lake boat. I have run mine in the gulf with no major problems.
