Maybe a paint gun would be an idea, at least that would give him an idea of how far "off" he is. Then again, maybe it wouldn't.

Actually, it's a 44 magnum. I ran across a big rattler in the hunt club a couple years ago. I gave him a 44 caliber lobotomy. Minus his fist size head, he measured 62 inches and had 14 rattles on him. I made a good snake out of him.

Well if you can hit it with the .44, why use the shotgun?????LOL

Well, I figured I could hit him with one shot. I didn't know how the neighbors would feel about gun play. I waved down the neighbor's wife right after I shot and asked her. She said nobody would say anything unless they thought you were just playing with the gun. She told me her husband killed one the week before with a 357. The shotgun with low brass number 7's doesn't make nearly as much noise as the 44. If I hadn't loaned Johno my pellet gun, the snake would be dead. I ran down the dock squeezed the trigger and nothing happened. I forgot the safely. Now I'm really in a hurry so nobody sees me out there with the shotgun and I threw it up to the shoulder and squeezed one off. I'm much better with quail or dove because they are farther away and I get more spread. I can outshoot Debbie with a pistol or shotgun, but I can't touch her with a rifle.

Then I'd have to hunt down the mongoose and kill him.
