38 T/S Top Gun vs 38 Fountain - how do the rides Compare?
I know that the Top Gun has a very solid ride, but does it feel sporty and nimble in the water like the Fountain? I've been told that the Top Gun rides like a Tank compared to the Fountain that rides like a ferrari. Top Gun owners seem to love their ciggs so I can't believe that they don't feel sporty.
I'd appreciate comments from those who have driven both. I'm boat shopping and am looking at both.
Thanks

I've been on a few 38 Cigs (Bravo and SSM boats), A couple 35,38, and 42 Fountains. There is no comparison, like someone else said, apples and oranges.
I think my previous boat (30ft. Scarab Panther) ran better in rough water than the 35 fountain. The ride quality of the 38 cig is much better than the 42 fountain. The fountain wasn't a comfortable ride until you started going fast. The Cig is very tough, it doesn't shudder when it lands wrong. The freeboard on the fountain is much lower than the cigarette so the who perspective is different as well.
If all you want to do is go fast with little power than get the Fountain, but then again the 38 TS with 525's is doing mid 80's these days.......

Re: 38 T/S Top Gun vs 38 Fountain - how do the rides Compare?
I recently sold my 35 fountain because I wanted a better ride in rough water. I've driven 38 Fountains and liked the way they rode but I'm not crazy about the fit and finish on the used fountains that I have seen That's why I am also looking at used T/S Top Guns.
I love the looks of the Top Guns and I know that they are put together well, but I have been told (by a guy who races Fountains) that the Top Gun isn't going to handle nearly as well at the Fountain.
So I am just asking for opinions from those who have driven or ridden in both. I'm not slamming Ciggs - I am thinking about buying one.

You better compare a a 38 Cig with a 42 Fountain.

I agree with both statements, I own a 42 and have driven all sizes of Cigs. It depends on water conditions, looks, and speed I think you are the only one that can make that decision. my .02 Tom
