Question about documented boats
If I buy a boat out of state and it is documented do I pay taxes on that purchase?? What are the full details on these purchases??

It depends on the state.. California had a law that if it was purchased and stayed out of the state for 90 days... you didn't have to pay sales tax... it was an out of state delivery... I think they closed that loophole and made it a year instead of 3 months..

You will be responsible to the state you bring the boat to, not the one it's in when you purchase it. Reed is correct, different states have different rules. Some even have different rules if it is documented or state titled. If you do not want the boat to be documented, you can delete it from the Coast Guard registry and get a state title.
