All kidding aside, seems we have a possible 2 more coming at us..........Jeanne, in the process of whipping a U, then Lisa right behind Jeanne!
That's why more than half my windows are still covered by plywood!

Oh, I'm not gonna nail anything (well, not with a hammer anyway... ). I'm just gonna sell it to all my friends who can't get it at Home Depot, Lowes, or Menards because those companies don't have the forsight to stock up on thost things this time of year... don't the store managers watch the weather???

Waterfowl, just don't try to sell it for too much or the state will invite you to stay for a while.

Most of the building supply stores have been able to restock supplies, at least on our side of the state.
I had to go to Home Depot yesterday and noticed their plywood supplies looked pretty close to normal.
Finally took all the plywood off our house cause "the wife" did not like living in "the Batcave". I'm sure it'll go back up soon.
Looks like Haiti took a hell of a hit from Jean. Tremendous flooding and over six hundred dead with that number expected to rise. What a year for storms. I might start an "ARK" company.

Foul, after Frances passed people were buying plywood then selling it to anxious homeowners in the parking lots of various home centers. The lines waiting to buy plywood were ridiculously long and I guess people didn't want to wait.
Generators are the big thing now. Since Ivan hit the panhandle generators are in short supply in central Florida.
My plywood shutters are still sitting on the front porch. Wife wanted to put them away last night. I think I'll wait till the weekend and see what TS/Hurr Lisa will do.
I watched people panic and try to buy plywood at the last minute. A few of my neighbors were trying to board up their homes the same day Frances hit Central Florida.
My panels/shutters were made back in '99 when Hurricane Floyd hit. All it takes is about 45 min. to pull them out and install. When it's over we take them down and back in the garage they go. No worries, no muss, no fuss, no mad rushing around.
I think built in storm shutters should be maditory on all new homes. Add it to the building code like hurricane straps on roof trusses. Sure would make life easier.

During Charley we sat out on our front porch and watched the show.
The comments ranged from WOW!, HOLY SH*T!, SOB!, look at that!, what was that??!! (the sound of our neighbors roof tearing off), then finally "this is crazy, it's time to go in". Same comments were used after it died down and we were able to go out and survey the damage.
We did the same for Frances but it didn't reach the same level as Charley.
Charley was a cat. 2 by the time it reach our place. I can't imagine what Ivan was like at cat. 4.
