Re: Shane Mahieu In hospital Critical condition
I spoke with Shane today. He asked that I post a huge THANK YOU out to everyone for the well wishes!
He is certainly in alot of pain. Afterall, they had to cut his chest open with a saw. That was the way he described it...
Unfortunately it still hurts his eyes to even look at a screen. So it may be a while before he comes back to post. I told him he has alot to catch up on when he does. He certainly will feel the love!!!
He realizes what he went through, and now is trying to deal with that mentally as well as physically.
But he is strong! He will overcome this swell without tripping or stuffing.
Go for it Shane!!! Keep up the fast recovery...

Re: Shane Mahieu In hospital Critical condition
It's great that you are home Shane, and you and your family will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers during your recovery.
The worst part is, you won't be able to wear a bikini anymore since they had to "open your chest with a saw."
Scars DO fade, and the pain WILL get better. Like Rice Hauler, I am 6 months post accident, and pretty close to being back to 100%. An experience like this changes you though - you won't sweat the small stuff quite as much after this.
Those of you who talk to Shane personally, please keep us updated on his progress til he can come back to the board.

Re: Shane Mahieu In hospital Critical condition
Shane left a message on my phone today. He was able to walk today to his neighbors house and back. It was a start and he was looking to go further later today.
He wanted me to be sure to let everyone know how thankful he is for all the support , phone calls and flowers he has received. This means a lot to Shane and he hope to be able to get on the board soon and tell everyone himself.
He said that looking at the TV makes him to dizzy so its going to take a few days before he get on-line.

Hey Hotboat tell him to wear sun glasses when he looks at the TV or monitor. It WILL help him a lot. I went through the same thing and even now often times put them on to help out with the glare and what not.
