Q? Checking the GMC site, towing capacity with duramax/allison in 2500HD shows to be the same as 3500 dually? (4X4) I do not have to tow but a couple of times per year what is the dually advantage?

Stability of the extra width. I had a bad trailering expierece a year ago, and I'm a big fan of more truck than you need now.
