Great stories of fast boats and historic places on Long Island.

Ok, you two were really fast to catch that! <gg> Granpaps is long gone, but the photos have survived.

He was just one of many east coast fisherman who made frequent trips to the Bahamas for rum. Family has photos of four stacker destroyers chasing him into international waters off the east coast.

The owner of Claudio's Clam Bar in Greenport, NY is on the Rumrunners program. He shows one of the surviving floor hatches used to smuggle booze in and out of the place during prohibition. The men's room today was a corridor used to smuggle booze in and out. That explains alot, it really is not much use as a washroom. <gg>

There is lots of other interesting stuff on the program, like a WWI Uboat used to fire booze torpedos onto the beach! Yep, I have Digital TV.
