I've never been to the Miami boat show, but going this year. Any recommendations on hotels to stay at. I haven't decided if I want to stay right around the show, or someplace away from it and just taxi back and forth.
Any suggestions either way?
Thanks in advance.

It depends if you want to stay on South Beach or in a newer hotel Downtown. Either place a cab is the route to go. South Beach about a 10-20 min ride and Downtown is around 20-30 min. I have stayed in both locations and prefer South Beach. Room rates vary dramatically from $100's to well over $500 a night. I like the Tides on Ocean Drive however it can be a little on the expensive side. The Hyatt and Sheraton or InterContinental Downtown are nice hotels and are all located near Bayside.

We stayed up on Miami Beach last year, it was ok but not great. This year we are staying at Lowes on SoBe, more $$$ but much nicer digs!! The show is spread out all over the city, (expo center, marina) so you'll have to cab-it anyway no matter where you stay.

I have stayed at the Shelborne on Collins about 4X. Very handy, about one block from the convention center and about 10 min. walk over to Ocean BLVD. and all the South Beach stuff. Good Luck, Wrink

Wrinkleface - does the Shelborne have parking for your car?

Mental, I think there is some parking on the side if I remember right but it is primarily valet. Last couple times the wife and I have just cabbied over from the airport and walk or cab to places. So much easier than driving around in that mess and dealing w/ the car thing. Hope this helps. Wrink
