wow, never seen service this bad

as many of you know I am a financial planner. I just got off the phone with american express, just trying to follow up on a transfer of assets. holly macral what a bunch of morons. first off after being transfered to 3 different departments they said that they never recieved the paper work and i would have to re send it, but i had a return reciept, so I knew they got it, but it turns out they gave me the wrong address. so the put me on hold while the tried to locate the paper work.(they then hung up on me). so I call back and finally get to the right department again and they said the transfer went out 3 days ago, but only part of it cuz they lost half of the paper work. olso I found it very strange that nobody I talked to could speak a lick of english, so I started asking these people were they were, I spoke with people in india, the phillipiens, never anyone in the united states. these are not the kind of jobs we need to be out sourcing because costomer service goes to hell and the just don't give a chit. when there is a real problem and they don't know the answer , they just hang up on you and there isn't a dam thing you can do about it, except get pissed and break your phone on your desk like i just did, this is why I am venting on here.

Jasen,

When ACATING from AMEX, it is best to have the client on the phone, call the 800#, have them execute the trade and send a check. For rollovers, just have them make check payable to You the successor custodian, FBO (client's name, IRA Rollover) and send the check. I usually see the $$ within a week.

Have you had any issues with Dell computers and tried to get help? Good luck...unless you can communicate in forms of Arabic you are SCREWED. I have actually talked to Dell technicians that I had to hang up and call back hoping to get one who spoke better English. I know that my redneck is hard to understand :D but at least it's a form of English :D

What's the world coming to

As far as outsourcing foes, check with John Kerry, he has a plan on how to combat this....funny, over 50% of HEINZ is bottled outside of the U.S.!

that sort of stuff just grinds me to no end, that is why I switched from MCI, every one of their cs people sounded like they were in India, and after long holds, switching from one department to the next, constant problems with my business voice mail I switched back to SBI, now MCI keeps sending me free credits to go back, no way. Another one is HP trying calling them for service on your printer same run around. This whole outsourcing of these type of jobs is a real worry of mine

Re: wow, never seen service this bad

shane, unfortunatly this is non acat, it it a tsa rollover, and depending on wich product and wich state depends on who handles it there, I have been doing this a long time and am a master at efficient transfers but these people are unbielevable, from sending wrong paper work, to giving me the wrong addresses, losing the paper work, and not speaking any english. the name of the company is american express and I don't think one person working there is american!!!!!

I wish that I could blame outsourcing on all of the problems but I can't. I rented a car, for 1 day, from Hertz. When I received the credit card statement they had billed me $500. I contacted them and admitted the error and promised to get me a refund ASAP. Because of the dollar amount of the refund, it required several "higher ups" to sign off on the refund and 3 months later I was still waiting on the refund. After a dozen phone calls (all to local folks) , I finally received the refund and had to start with Capital One about the fees they charged me for the $500. Since the credit took more than one billing cycle to clear, they were charging me interest on all charges made. Guess what ... I was talking to folks in Costa Rica that barely spoke English and the phone connections were horrible! Now that everything has been handled, after 4 months of hassles, I can rest comfortably ... until the next customer service fiasco!

We are in the process of leasing about 1000 PC, part of our RFP was that tech support had to be in the US. Dell is pulling out of India because of the lack of skill of Tech support. The completion of the move back to the US is March 05. The director of tech support in the US stated that they lost about 20% of thier sales because of the Indians....

Computer problems...

My work Computer has been screwed for a week and a half now and my good old American IT broad wants to dump the hard drive and re-install everything. I told her what happenend that it screwed up and I know that I also have a spyware problem on the machine, but according to Co. policy I'm not allowed to download the fix.
In the mean time my machine is limping, and the IT broad is too busy walking back and forth to the office refrig. or microwave.
Unbeleivable...

the real problem here is these big companies are only concerned about the bottem line, because that what stock holders are concerned about, and unfortunatly the look at this stuff on a quarter to quarter basis, and are not that concerned with the long term impacation of things like this. exaple outsourcing costomer service to india might save better than 50% in that area but what happens long term when people like me get pissed off about bad sevice and quit buying there products. sometimes taking the cheap way out is just not the right thing to do.

We just had Verizon takes us for a ride, My son lost his phone yesterday went to Verizon (Have Insurance) One more month to go on the contract. The first Verizon store wouldn't give us the time of day! Real A#$#. Now e showed this jerk that we can upgrade on line, he didn't want to hear it!!
Went to the next Verizon store in the Mall, Almost the same treatment seams like they sign you up and (Up Yours) The new phone would cost us $259 not $79 for 2 for one according to there add or our account according to the computer. That both counter people said that the computer account isn't true! (Great Training)
Well that was it for me! Went over to T-Moble signed up 2 Camera phones $60 and a 1 year contract instead of a 2 year contract that Verizon has.

Called Verizon today to cancel we know there is a $175 cancelation fee. But they are saying we have two phones one account $350 Disconect fee. After arguing with the idiot now they try to pursuade us to stay, they will give us 2 phones 1 month free yada yad yada... at this point my only saying was I will pay the 350 so you people can go away and put your phone and service were the sun don't shine..
I had Verizon for 10 Years I guess loyalty means nothing to a big company.

i feel your pain!!!!

my dsl stopped working over a month ago.
figured it was a virus (running very slow) so i re-formated the puter however i dont have the installation cd to re-install dsl.
called sbc "tech support" 5 friggin weeks ago to get the cd.
guess what , im still waiting :hothead:
hopefully , these corporate geniuses will figure out outsourcing DOESNT WORK!!!!

copy of an email i sent yesterday to the "director of customer service": how much you wanna bet i never get a reply

I'm writing you in hopes you will do something about the worst customer service I think I've ever received from a company.
I've been trying to get an Enternet 300 installation CD from your technical support people for well over a month.
I've called them probably a total of 20 times , been promised the CD within a few days , been promised a follow-up call to see if it arrived , all to no avail. Each and every time I'm told I will receive the CD within a few days. TIME AFTER TIME!!!!!
I've even identified the problem FOR them. my "billing zip code 64063" is different then my "service zip code 64081" for some odd reason. Yet they cant seam to send me a CD.
To top it off , today , one of your level-2 personnel , a man named "Fouad" , who was extremely rude , hung up on me abruptly after telling me there was nothing else he could do for me!!!! I've waited for 5 weeks to get this CD and this is how I'm treated? What does a customer have to do to get some attention? 20 MORE calls???????

Please help.

I had a problem with AMEX last year after a week of runaround I sued the ba*ta#ds they sent me a check including atty's fees. Next time I won't wait so long to sue! They don't seem to want to go to court over $600.

My sister has been fighting with AmEx for two years. She sent in a check to pay off her account, which they claim was never received. When she sent them a copy of the front and back of the cancelled check, they claimed it wasn't ledgible. They reported to the credit bureau for non-payment, and she had to get an attorney.

You can not blame the companies for trying to increase their bottom line. It is aparrent that unless people stop using companies that outsource then it will continue to happen. HOWEVER people like the cheaper prices, and more often then not buy the cheaper rather then the quality product. This is nothing new, I do not like it but it is nothing new. Slam the AMEX and DELL all you want for doing that but I am not so sure it is correct to slam the people at the other end of the line. They are just doing what they are told to do. Not thier fault.

Re: wow, never seen service this bad

Incredibly i've been in the same situation with Verizon... web service is very good to deal with but the satellite stores are a PITA... their prices are always higher they don't want to help you, especially if you didn't get the contract THROUGH them. i had to buy a new phone not too long ago... i couldn't wait weeks to send it in for "service" and it was 2 days out of warranty... the phone sucked anyway so i wanted to toss it... the chick at the platinum dealer didn't even want to help me.. all she siad is "this is how we do it here and these are our prices"... i went home, called verizon, they sent me the phone i wanted for their price which was incidently 75 dollars less than the store wanted... i had it the next day.

Comcast has US customer service.. they are worse than the indian dell folks... talk about customer DISSERVICE... i live in a kinda country area... botu 5 miles from Michigan Speedway to be exact... and it took me literally 4 months to get Comcast to hook up my cable and hi-speed... after the "can we serve" call which got lost somewhere and dealing with customer disservice for 2 months i finally had one guy tell me that maybe i should find someone else who can service my area.. basically i told him if that was possible i sure as hell wouldn't be talking to him... finally the GF took over for me and by some miracle of GOD she ended up talking to a customer service guy who ended up being her 2nd cousin (she has liek 200 cousins or something  )... it still took another month to get them to figure out that the line was in front of my house.. eventhough i had told me i was standing there lookin at it... To top this all off.. i take the day off to wait for the guy to hook it up... i have satellite mind you... i am keeping it and getting basic cable and hi-speed (same price as just hi-speed). i duplex em in and duplex em out at teh tv.. run my wireless router and card and whala... anyway... the guy takes the LNB out of the dish and whacks it on the roof and breaks it on purpose... i found this after he left... when my satellite would not work after i hooked it all up in the house... if i find him somewhere.. he'll have 4 flat tires... so then saturday rolls around... another service guy shows up... with a 2nd account number with the CORRECT address.. btw.. the first dude had a similar but wrong address and i guided him to my hoem... so anyway he calls his boss to have the FIRST Account i am now hooked up with corrected.. so instead i come hom emonday to find i am no longer IN SERVICE... so i call and finally get it worked out after 2 hours on the phone with some of the most powerless CS people in the world.. instead of correcting the addy they cancelled that account and kept the 2nd which was not setup with my MAC addy and such.. so tech support wanted to charge be 50 bucks to setup again.. i said screw you.. i remembered the Proxy and went in and did the step by step crap again to setup a new username and all that junk... btw... SAS.R5.ATTBI.NET :D

thank god my service has not gone out but once cause god knows when they'd fix it.. now that is the worst CS i have ever experienced...
