New 30' Cigarette?

A friend of ours went to the Lauderdale Boat Show, and said he looked at the new 30' Cigarette called a Vice? Is this true? I couldn't make it, had to work :hothead:

Re: New 30' Cigarette?

Boat was gorgeous. Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures or ask as many questions as I should have. It had a half cabin. They were asking $199,000.

Is this the same boat as the Mystique? From what I recall, the Mystique ended up as a twin step with no notch, (to solve some porpoising issues) and ended up being dropped due to costing as much as the larger boats to build. Does anyone know if there are other substantial changes?

Re: New 30' Cigarette?

So what make this one cheaper to build?
Did it look just like a Mystique?
Someone must have a picture.

Here is someone's picture from another thread. You can see the 30 in the background.

i guess there not looking to sell to many of them at $199,000...they need to be alot more competitive than that. i'd rather buy a 2-3 year old Gladiator or Top Gun for that kind of $$$$

I THINK THAT A GOOD BUY, 1ST THING IS THAT ITS BRAND NEW, 2ND A NEW TOP GUN WHICH IS ONLY ABOUT 6AND HALF FOOT LONGER WILL RUN YOU ABOUT 325K. I KNOW THAT MY 2002 MYSTIQUE WITH 500EFIS AND XR DRIVERS HAD A COST NEW OF 289K WITH CUSTOM PAINT AND MYCO TRAILER. 199K FOR THIS BOAT IS A STEAL......................

Re: New 30' Cigarette?

it is not a Mystique....Bud told me that it is built as as its own model...looked very nice, sat high and has a rather high fairing....cockpit looked real deep....sorry, I too did not take my camera by mistake....no options offered on the boat, it will only be built as shown at the show (as per Bud)...however, that's hard to believe....he told me that the Mystique cost almost as much to build as the TG, thus the market wasn't there because could have a TG for a bit more....nice boat though

so they just threw away the mystique mold then built an ALL new 30 footer? yeh right... and my playboy isnt a revamped cafe... and the cafe open wasnt an ocean hawk... they probably want to distance themselves from the mistake er i mean mystique due to its unpopularity( love the boat almost got one) and porping on the nonstep models (9) the T/S (3) are real nice(12 total)... i think due to national flooding the BIG dollar market (#6s big power) they are trying to dip onto a new market at least temporarally to keep production #s steady... this is only a GUESS!!

ALSO, CIGARETTE MADE TWO OTHER MYSTIQUES THAT HAVE NO STEPS AND NO NOTCH IN 2002, I OWN ONE, AND THERE IS VERY LITTLE PORPING, I KNOW THAT MY OLD BOAT, 99 TOPGUN HAD MORE OF A PORPING ISSUE THAN MY MYSTIQUE. I HAVE HAD TWO OTHER TOPGUNS AND I WILL SAY THE MYSTIQUE THAT I OWN IS BY FAR THE BEST RIDING CIGARETTE I HAVE OWNED. HAVE A NICE DAY...........................

i hate to be pissing in someone's cheerios, but that boat in the foreground has to be the ugliest thing i've seen in a long time...the graphics and interiors on these boats has just gotten completely out of hand...

Sean -

I couldn't agree more. I spent some time on Saturday checking out the cigarettes at the show, and the color combo's did nothing for me. It was funny to overhear people just fawning all over the various sales people and telling them how awesome the boats looked...I thought they were pretty ugly.
Of all the cigs, that little 30 footer looked the nicest. I'm sorry I didn't take a pic of it. It was really subtle in comparison...

Ok ..first let me say that ALL CAPITAL LETTERS MEANS YOUR YELLING !
200K for any 30 foot boat is a RIP OFF !

Re: New 30' Cigarette?

i have to say the right now the best bang for the buck is the 2005 Fountain Executioner....35 ft twin 496's for $160....seems like a no brainer to me...NOW THATS A DEAL !! Definately something one needs to look further into..i know my boss did...looked so far he took delivery of one about a month ago...legit 80mph boat...whack the beak and platform and is still a 32.5 to 33 footer

sorry about the caps, do you think that 325k for a 38 topgun is a rip-off? the thing is that with my cigarette mystique, its the only one like it in the world. if you buy baja, fountain, sonic and other brands, they make boats the same ie. paint and set-up. one of my first boats was a baja, great boat but, every body and there brother had one.

Yes 325 is a rip off ..But I guess if youve got it burning a hole in your pocket , spend it ..
Personaly id rather have a 41 or 47 apache if you want a boat your not going to bump into a clone of every day ..And for 325K you can throw a bunch of power in one..
Screw NEW boats , worst investment youll ever make !

Re: New 30' Cigarette?

order the TG in white and save $50-$75k..........looking at the boats at the show, I have to agree that the paint is getting too over the top for me as well......I wonder what the opinions will be 4-5 years from now.......they will be dated and extreme......liked the Vice boat, though

Any boat is a poor investment. Some lose value faster than others.

I was talking with a salesman from the Texas dealership. I asked him if he knew if you could still get an all white Cigarette. He looked at me like I was crazy. The colors are nice. Still nothing beats the classic lines of an all white Cigarette.

I think thats an myth. Just look what you can buy a used 2000-2001
Tiger for. Compared to what they cost new,the loss in real dollers is
just as high as any other make that probably cost much less new,
Whats the difference if you paid 330k And sold it 3 years later for
200K or you paid 225k And sold it 3 years later for 125K. I say
your even further in the hole with the Cig.

Re: New 30' Cigarette?

hey scott...when cigs are older yes...but a year or two or three for that matter they drop just as much as any other (compare %) boat does...where they level out is 6,7,8 +++ years in age

Re: New 30' Cigarette?

epeek i totally agree...best bet is to keep as long as possible than your loss wont seem so significant

ya wanna talk value...friend bought new in 1999...a 29 scarab for $80 and some change...sold last year for $58...dont see cost of ownership numbers like that to often...that was the main reason i bought my 29

Re: New 30' Cigarette?

Boat prices in general have got way out of hand in the last 5 years.
In the early 90's you could buy a new Top Gun for $175/200K. These guys haven't stayed in line with the cost of inflation. It's more like if Outerlimits can do it, so can we.
Not surprising to see so much interest in both the Vise and the 30 Apache.
