Allen Jackson has a boat in Jupiter, Florida, so, now it's boating related, generally!

Re: Country Music Awards?

Toby's daughter is a leetle chunky, but she pulls it off nicely.
i said the same thing to ms mc about her being a doll compared to ozzy's hideous offspring.

WTF is up with Big & Rich?
They had some sort of a vibrating dwarf on stage wearing a pink fur hat and making rap gestures to the crowd. Then black Superman got into a punch swapping contest with some guy. And another dude tore his shirt off like Axl Rose. And THIS is "new country"? Please take me back in time...
My eyes are bleeding!

At least Sara Evans still has those oversize extra bright front teeth. I like big front teeth...

mcollinstn 11-09-2004 08:42 PM

Re: Country Music Awards?

And Allan Jackson has boats EVERYWHERE. LOTS of them.
Lots of restored older wood and steel boats as well as modern ones.

Ted G 11-09-2004 08:46 PM

Re: Country Music Awards?

Yup, Sara Evans even looks good with a little baby fat on :D

Mmmmm Teri Clark

Re: Country Music Awards?

You know you gotta love Big and Rich's "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" song! And now here's Terri Clark.

And on a side note, those Emmons steel guitars they play? My mom used to do their bookkeeping. You should see the tiny dive they are made in.

SOX 11-09-2004 08:51 PM

Re: Country Music Awards?

The dwarf is a bit spooky but listen to the CD it's real good. I get tired of the tear in my beer songs and Tim Mcgraw whining... Big & Rich are original and break the mold of typical country music. But I respect your opinion if you disagree. :)

mcollinstn 11-09-2004 08:53 PM

Re: Country Music Awards?

Save a Cowboy is a OK song. It's a Horrid country song, but an OK song.
More like gangster country. But much better than rap.
I don't think they belonged on the performer's stage at the CMA's though.
My retinas will hurt for another few days from that one...

I see a few Emmons, but I'm more familiar with the Franklins.

Re: Country Music Awards?

No, I'm don't like that sad crap or Hank Sr. junk either.

I actually listen to 80's rock and modern alternative for the most part. Me and my 13 yr old have a lot of the same music tastes. My 11 yr old daughter likes "today's country" and Avril Lavigne (which for some odd reason I can listen to that without too much trouble). Wife is a modern country all the way. Add to that I have some friends deeply entrenched in country music and I have to at least be able to tolerate it.

Hank Jr. is more my speed. And live is better, especially when Bocephus plays Van Halen and ZZ Top.

But, no, Big and Rich aren't my bag visually. I can listen to them MUCH EASIER than looking at them.

As far as breaking the mold? The country mold? There's a reason for that.

THEY AREN'T COUNTRY.

Just like many others in today's modern country ARENT country.
I like staring really really hard at Shania's pants, but SHE AINT country. She's pop.
Some of the electronic voiced teen country sensations AINT country either.
Unkle Kracker certainly AINT country. No matter how hard Kenny Chesney tries to convince us otherwise.
Genre busters.
More like Genre Invaders.

But it seems to be working well for them.

OMG, I can't believe you guys are talking about this, Mr P just went to bed cause he can't believe I love this chit, me a gal from NY! anyway Tobby's daughter looked a little old for a teen but she could sure belt it out. Sara sounded great, I love the new Shania duet and have been watching it on GMAC. Looks like Tim's year; Live Like you are dying hits a lot of soft spots especially since his dad passed. I want someone to finally take it away from Crooks and Dunn, Ange I am with you I love those big and rich guys. I was thinking they could play ride a Cowboy at the party, after all us girls are in charge :D One last thing I really like Terri Clark but I am starting to wonder about her..... back to the show

Gretchen Wilson = rrrrooooowwwwwwrrrrrrr

"When I think of cheating" is a solid Patsy Cline type number, and there ain't nothing wrong with a little Patsy influence. And she can belt it out on "Here for the party" and "Redneck Woman". Girl has to get some stage presence though...

That's what I'm talkin' about! :D
