Please help me in making my decision

For those of you that know me, I have been on the forums for about a year. For this entire time I have planned on buying a BAJA. Well now the time is here and I found a nice Sunsation. Could anyway help me out on what kind of quality boat Sunsation's are? Any pros or con??? :D

Also if you have a boat for sell that is in the low $40's let me know. Thanks everyone

'LivinVIP" has a '98 252 Baja. One owner, fresh water. $29,450. 2nd boat, wants it gone.

Have you looked at the Velocity's in the classifieds? Couple with chargers going cheap.

Or if you need some cabin room for the wife and a smoother rough water ride you can look at the Prowlers.

The Sunsations are a sleek looking boat.I like the looks of them but I have not had any exesperince with them. The 27-29 one I like the best.

I have a friend that has a 272 it runs low 80's nice all round boat .Handles mild water good , light boat, has nice interior.

I have another friend that has one with a hp 500 procharged that has been 93 :eek:squirley.

You might want to check the insurance $$ on both first.

Think about resale also.

Re: Please help me in making my decision

mobilecal,

Both are great boats. I have ridden in the 25 outlaw and they ride nice for their size. Depends on what you like but there is a Baja every other dock around here so they aren't very unique if you ask me. The sunsation is a semi-custom boat and I believe that they are every bit as good build quality if not better than the Baja. One nice thing about the Baja is the closed cooling on the 496....the 454 in the Sunsation does not have closed cooling so if you are planning on going in salt water, you may want the 496. Neither of the engines have huge upgrade potential from what I've heard as the internals are not as good as a 496HO or a 502. I would guess there are lots more upgrades available for the 454 than the 496. I think either way you'll be happy.

I would go 26 or there is even a 28 Sonic in the 40's I think you'll enjoy what the cabin and ride have to offer

If it is a 25' Sunsation no way hands down Baja. The 25' Sunsation is way too small, now if it was a 28' Sunsation that would be a different story.

Nothing Wrong With A Baja. There A Great Entry Leverl Performance Boat, But There Are Alot Of Other Products Out There That Offer More Bang For The Buck. I Looked At Damn Near Everything And Rode In Quite A Few Before I Made My Decision. My Main Reason For My Purchase Is That I Spend Alot Of Time In The Ocean And Wanted The Reliability Of Twins Not To Mention Better Resale. Look At All Of Your Options. Is Better To Spend A Little More And Get What Ya Want, Because If Ya Dont It'll End Up Costing More When Ya Go To Sell What Ya Have To Get What Ya Want....trust Me !!

Have any of you guys seen a 25' Sunsation,I'm not ripping on Sunsation they are great boats but the 25' is tiny, they don't even build then anymore. It depends on what you are going to do with it,but I'm telling you if you put four adults in it and want to go out for the day and be comfortable you'd better think again,if you want a Sunsation buy a 28',otherwise buy the Baja.

I guess it is all about what you are looking for in a boat. Would you sacrifice room for a faster ride given the same power? How about customer service even as a second owner? Customer servce at Sunsation is second to none. I do not feel you can compare it to Baja. If you would like a large cabin and cockpit the Aggressor is NOT for you. It has a 7 foot beam and is really 24 feet (they count the swim platform). If you want a quick and nimble boat than you should take a test ride and see for yourself. I am addicted to the acceleration.
The 28 Sunsation Intimadator has a 8'6" beam, and is considerably larger and handles much differently. There are some good deals out there on 28 Sunsations as well. It is a good time to get a deal buying, not so if you are selling.

Take a look at my website (one of them for the same company). I am the exclusive dealer for a boat called Vindicator. The company that makes them is 38 years old. It is 24' (or 26 overall). Powered w/ a 496 MAG Bravo 1 pkg, it lists for 60K, but I can sell you one (2005 model) for 45-50K new.

Just something to think about. Good luck with your search

I'd go for the 25 Outlaw between those two. Don't believe that classified ad. No way the 25 Outlaw will come anywhere close to 70 with a 454 mag. More like 62 - 64 GPS.

i agree with jmeng..good friend of mine has an 02 i think with a 496 mag ho (425hp) and he's just hitting 70 but a solid 70. he wants to trade me for my scarab because he likes the ride of it much much better not to mention the added room

I thank everyone for their help so far. Not to be offensive to anyone but I dont particularly like the fountains, I am very unsure off the Sunsations now, Need big tank for PR's and off shore cruising, and not looking to get anything older than a 1999.

I think Strip and many others know my true love is to BAJA, but then again to each their own as long as we are all on the water right?

Now I do not know all of the websites out there other than iboats, boattrader, dallas boats, boats and team baha.

If anyone knows of any additional boating websites or boat that is listed please let me know. My preferences are 1999 and up, purple gold and black, and very clean. But the colors are not everything. I really do appreciate all of you pitching in and helping me on this as we all know this is a big decision and I dont want to do it again next year.

Thanks again Strip Pocker for all of the links. It helped.

What did all of you think about the baja I listed????

25 Sunsation is a little boat, 25 Baja Outlaw would be much nicer room wise.

My 26ft PowerQuest is for sale in the OSO classifieds. Low 30's, always freshwater, and just back from PowerQuest Factory being updated.

Mobil,

The one you listed doesn't look bad. Price is pretty good depending on the condition and number of hours. Just keep in mind that it's not a 70 mph boat like the ad says.

I got tired last night ,.I quit posting about 3.30 last night.

I did a google search and came up with some dealers I have never heard of before .

Have you thought about buying new , I remember baja offering some 0% interest rates for the first year and something like 4% after that. I figure there is a lot of Baja's out there you might find a leftover 03 out there . Our dealer had a 36 he sat on for almost for 2 1/2 years ,it have small power . The interest was eating him up . Right know the boat sales are bad so the might be some left overs out the my buddy that bought the 272 paid low 50's in 96-97. new.

I think there is a Baja web site out there, try it ...

Have ya made ya mind up yet??

Rob
