Need a place to stay on south beach

Sorry, this is not a boating question.....
I just booked tickets to south beach. My question is.... I'm looking for a hotel close to all the attractions but want a quiet room. I was told if you stay rite in the heart of all the action you will get no sleep. (Too noisy) Any help would be appreciated.
I'm from the midwest so our boating season is over. I'd be happy to throw a couple hundred at someone for an afternoon out on the water.
Thanks for any input,
Jeff

Are you speaking about the during the Miami Boat Show?
A bunch of us stayed at Essex House Hotel last year. Its close to everything, and I had a quiet room. Very friendly, and the only thing it lacks is shelf space in the bathroom, and you must valet park.

There should be a handful of us with boats in Miami for the boat show as well.

You might try the Chesterfield on Collins Avenue, one or two blocks off the main strip so it's away from the noise. But not too far away that my girlfriend couldn't walk to all the clubs IN 5" HEELS! Believe me, I wouldn't have been getting any at night if her feet hurt, but it was one of the best trips I've ever taken!
Rates weren't outrageous, given my booking the day before, during the Miami Boat Show week. About $200 a night, nice rooms, great atmosphere, great staff, unique (to say the least) bathrooms!

Thanks.
Thanks.
