Scott Summeral
Can anyone tell me how I can get paid on a survey that I performed for Scott back in June. I have called him several times, he never returns my calls. He has promised to pay me if I give a discount which I did. Now he dodges my phone calls and tried to sell my survey to the seller for $400 dollars. I would appreciate any advice.Thank you

Re: Scott Summeral
No he did survey a boat here in lauderdale . After the survey show rust on the manifolds scott made his choice because of the survey. He never paid after he ask for the survey.

Re: Scott Summeral
If I read the original post right you agreed to give him a discount so he would then pay you? When I quote a price to a customer I don't discount it so I can con them into paying for sevices already rendered.
Just a thought. Buck |

Re: Scott Summeral
I have talked with Scott many times about the Cig in CA. he seemed to be a very direct, straght up guy. I can only hope that when this matter is resolved you will do the right thing by posting on this thread the results. After all, if you are going to use this board to call someone out... you should let those who may work with them in the future know the end result.

But would you want to work with someone in the future that had to be called out on the board? |

Ed Cozzi,
How have you been? When are you going to learn to get the money up front from the prop-kickers? Stop by and see me when you are in the neighborhood. Pat |

Pat Thank you for the survey and your expertise when I purchased my Tiger back in January. It has performed like a Champion ! We never went on that fun run ! Check out my Tiger in the classifieds and help me find a buyer $ !! I will pay for the survey again so you don't get stiffed ! Sorry to hear about Scott. Like the old saying : " No good deed goes unpunished ! " All the Best, Victor |

Re: Scott Summeral
Thanks for the encouragement everybody, but everything is still the same with Scott. He's avoiding my calls at work and on his cell phone. My boss gave him the discount, not me. Felt sorry for him I guess. I can't even lien the boat because he bought something else.
Hate asking for payment up-front, but guys like Scott Summerall ruin it for the good guys. |
Re: Scott Summeral
Never herd of him

Re: Scott Summeral
scott ,why don't you respond????

Re: Scott Summeral
He doesnt want to pay ! He needs to be put on the bad BIZ list.

Re: Scott Summeral
I feel your pain Ed. As a businessman I too run across deadbeats but thankfully they are few. (...and those few have been happily using their Victory tabs since SPRING w/o paying! )
I trust most everyone up front, especially my boating brethern but you can never be 100% sure. Good luck in collecting. I do wish there was an easier way... Brian |
Re: Scott Summeral
Sorry to here with whats going on. I sold a cig. to scott a couple of months ago. He flew to calif. sea trialed the boat, financed, survey boat, engine, compression test, leak down etc. Shipped the boat back to L.A deal was done. It was a very pleasant transaction and a very upstanding guy. Hate to here all the negative.

Re: Scott Summeral
6 posts Tim. You have been in this industry for 86 years and you only have 6 lousy posts? WTF!
To those on the board looking to buy a boat...Tim is a good guy with a good fallowing. (But he is ugly as Sin!) |
Re: Scott Summeral
shouldnt by things when you havent paid the bills from the past. BTW any hull #s you can throw Eds way so he can file a mechanics lien on the boat Tim?

I haven't a clue what's going on here, so I'm not taking sides. I will say it's not unusual for people to avoid being sucked into a forum free for all. There's usually three sides to every story. Some folks don't feel obligated to broadcast their side on a public forum. Scott's aware of the post and has declined to comment. Okay.....well why doesn't he return the calls or repsond this Ed guy? That's the way to work it out! Sounds to me that you might use caution with this guy Fred. Maybe you're lucky so far. |
Re: Scott Summeral
Guys, there's no mystery here. Scott just doesn't feel he has to pay. He passed on this boat and now any money he has to spend on it is a waste. He has come up with every lame excuse to not pay and even had us send him a copy registered mail because he told Tres Martin he never received the survey, which we know is BS because he refused the boat after seeing my survey originally.
I did the job, I did it well and I deserve to get paid. I trusted this man was stand-up enough to meet his obligation, but it appears I was duped. |

"I have called him several times, he never returns my calls. He has promised to pay me if I give a discount which I did." Pretty clear this guys isn't what you think T.O. |
Re: Scott Summeral
I don't know anything about this, but I towed his Cig to DFW for him and he paid cash no problem.

Re: Scott Summeral
He visits OSO, he just dodging the issue.
|
Re: Scott Summeral
Ed and I had a conversation about this issue yesterday. It is important to understand that there must be a sense of trust between a surveyor and a perspective buyer. The buyer trusts the surveyor to have his best interest at heart and the surveyor trusts that payment will be made whether it is a passing or failing survey. I think that Ed has a good reputation that precedes him.
Thanks and Ed, call me on the 38 when you can. Ed |

Re: Scott Summeral
Here's the latest on Mr. Scott Summeral. He thinks that Tres Martin should pay for the survey because Tres ordered it. Tres Martin and I have known each other since 1987 when I went to work for his father at Everglades Marina. Not only have I watched him mature into one of the most knowledgeable high performance guys around, but I admire him for his no BS ways and the fact that he is so "stand-up".
Tres would never have ordered up the survey unless he was told to by his buyer: Scott Summeral. Tres' only mistake was returning his deposit in full. He trusted Scott to be stand-up, but... |

Just came up with a great idea!
Let's all give Scott Summeral a call to wish him a Happy Thanksgiving! His cell phone is: (318) 366-9360. Warning: If you're calling from a 954 area code, he will see the number on his caller ID, think it is me and will let it go to voice mail. This is a popular debt-dodging trick. |
