Thanks Fund Razor. We have a Jeep in the family with the tag " Got Mudd" too.

Brian,

My trailer reads "GOT AGUA" Since you're not from these parts...AGUA= H20. If you didn't go to school H20= Water. :drink:

Brian,
I did this a few years ago on my Trailrite trailer. You only want to do this ONCE. Do yourself a favor and do it right the first time. I removed the bunks, removed the old carpet. I used pressure treated wood (wasn't treated wood before) and then replaced the carpet and the stainless hardware. I had the trailer repainted to get rid of the rust spots also. I also replaced the rollers that are under the boat in the center of the trailer. (they were rusted) Good luck.

Brian,
I also did this to our Manning trailer 2 months ago. I only replaced two bunks but did what Semper Fi wrote. If you do half the job now, next season you will be doing it again.

Outside of the bunks, how is the trailer holding up? I had a Custom on my 29 Lavey and once it was dialed in I loved it. Is Custom still in business?

Yes, Custom is still in business. I had to replace a fender last weekend. The trailer is in great shape. I just replaced/repacked all the wheel bearings and upgraded the brakes to Bendix Carbon Metallic pads. I have not put the boat on it yet, but it is towing fine empty. I will probably put the boat back on it tomorrow, to get some work done on the boat before it all heads to Florida.

Re: Recarpeting trailer bunks...

THE very best bunks are made from cypress, not pt wood. The bunks I did last year were on a 1988 Fastload trailer. The bunks were as solid as the day it was built. The V-bunk where the bow rests was made from pt wood. It had basically disintegrated. The only thing holding it together was the carpet.
