Donzi's New 35ZR (Running)
1 Attachment(s)
Took a test ride on this bad boy and I got to say this is one good running boat, with 525s she runs 95 mph, handles alot like its bigger brother the 38ZR. The 35ZR with 496s runs 84mph,

Re: Donzi's New 35ZR (Running)
wow...very sharp!
|
Re: Donzi's New 35ZR (Running)
Its a sharp boat, with a very new and interesting layout. The boat does not have a V-berth, but it has a very long U-shaped couch, with a drop in insert for sleeping. I saw one last month at Offshore-Performance.com in MD with 496HOs. I think you will definately see a few on the water this year.

Re: Donzi's New 35ZR (Running)
Good looking boat. graphics are sweet :drink:

Actually the boat does have a V/Berth in front of the wrap around seats
|
Re: Donzi's New 35ZR (Running)
I guess I could see that for a couple kids maybe. I think the one I saw was curtained off as more of a storage area. Is the interior/that bulkhead configurable upon order Frank?

Re: Donzi's New 35ZR (Running)
are the speeds posted GPS speeds?
Or, speedo speeds on the first light and tuned ringer boats to build interest? not being a dick, just looking for the straight poop on how these (production) boats will perform, specifically the 35' 84 on H.O.'s seems pretty out of line. The seemingly smaller 35' Fountain won't run that (not even close) on H.O.'s 10+ miles an hour faster than my 353? on the same power? I dunno.... how about some prop and gear #'s for the 496 boat? |
Re: Donzi's New 35ZR (Running)
Our boat has 30p Bravo I and has gone 82 on the GPS speedo.

Re: Donzi's New 35ZR (Running)
The speedo on the Donzi are all gps and the cabin you are looking at is Offshores boat, that was the boat at the Donzi Dealer Meeting in Sarasota, she ran 82MPH with 496s

Re: Donzi's New 35ZR (Running)
Any word, pics, performance specs or idea when the 38 will be released.
|
Re: Donzi's New 35ZR (Running)
The 38 is in the mold now, they should have the 38 and the 43 ready for boat show season. The 38 will be a staggered 525 stock and you will be able to upgrade. all the ZRs are built on the same platform as the race boat.

very nice ride, and sure looks like fun

Re: Donzi's New 35ZR (Running)
'bout 180K I bet with H.O.'s and little else for options
I see it's 35'3" LOA :D and 7800 lbs. 800 lbs lighter than the Formula 353 I'll spot you 4-5 MPH for the 800 lbs...but 10 MPH? Must be one hell of an aggressively stepped bottom / high X. Who will be the first to roll one? :p |
Re: Donzi's New 35ZR (Running)
Same bottom as the ZR race boat. Price I can't say on line but I am ordering one for myself.. I love the boat
|
Re: Donzi's New 35ZR (Running)
I love the ZR raceboats - they are totally bad ass. But I said this once and I'll say it again. The running hull surface on that 35 ZR makes the beak on a 35 Fountain look small. No wonder it weighs so little. I can't wait to see the 38's.
|
Re: Donzi's New 35ZR (Running)
10-4 Troutly. Just bustin' a little to keep this alive. :D I await these boats with interest myself.
|
Re: Donzi's New 35ZR (Running)
can't wait to see the 38 and 35 in person
|
Re: Donzi's New 35ZR (Running)
I saw a 35 at the Annapolis boat show. Looked very nice. It's a low deck so head room is lacking, but would make a sweet poker runner!

353 prop change
i got a 2002 353 with 500efi and the boat does about 80 at 4800 4900 rpm with 30 lab finshed 4 blades can someone give me some info on how to get max rpm should i size down to 28 4 blades or go 5 blade

Re: Donzi's New 35ZR (Running)
looks great frank

Re: Donzi's New 35ZR (Running)
i know the 2005 35 fountain executioner with 496 HO's does 79 and change on a gps...

Re: Donzi's New 35ZR (Running)
you've seen this first hand on an in-stock boat with fuel in it?
I see you're in Jersey, if this was a first hand experience, was it on salt? |
Re: Donzi's New 35ZR (Running)
WOW that seems fast as hell with them speeds  Hide them from my insurance salesman
|
Re: Donzi's New 35ZR (Running)
Let's see some more interior shots to get a better feel for the boat.

Re: Donzi's New 35ZR (Running)

I believe the speeds, the Donzi twin step hull design is the key.
HEY RIPEM, our 33ZX weighs 11,500 with a full bag and we run 72 to 74 on GPS with 496HO's. Bryan |

The picture makes it look short.Very impressive speeds!
Yea lets see some more picks :D |
Re: Donzi's New 35ZR (Running)
afton, in context of the thread, I posed that question about the Fountain.

Yea, I know...they don't do anything for me either. :D

Re: Donzi's New 35ZR (Running)
i would think maybe im wrong but the lighter these hulls and faster speeds, comprimise rough water ride...
i cant see a boat the same as my playboy runing 10 mph faster w/o a significant wieght dedution which would lead to a poor ROUGH water ride... 35ft is 35 ft.. the only way to get extra speed is a BIG reduction in wieght/ ride comprimise... same with the dragon... thats why i think the 39 cig only runs 89 comparably... lighter is faster in ideal 1-2 chop conditions AND sells boats... but its not a real world standard... especially in the great lakes super chop... hopefully ill get to test these new boats at miami in feb..maybe im wrong... ted but I DONT THINK SO!!! |

Rehttp://www.spelchek.com/cgi-bin/spelchek.cgi: Donzi's New 35ZR (Running)
Hi Ted,
Regarding your statement of needing the weight for good rough water ride quality, you have a valid argument up to a point. What is more important than the overall weight is how the weight is distributed...balance. We've all seen boats that have substantial weight but lousy ride quality. What Donzi is doing with the ZR's is maintaining the correct balance on each model. Having driven our 38 ZR I can tell you that it has passed many a longer, shorter, heavier, lighter and higher horse-powered boat in the rough. Every now and then a boat comes along that just plain works. The ZR is that rare boat. If you get a chance take on for a ride. John |
Re: Donzi's New 35ZR (Running)
I was able to check out the new 35 and 38 ZR at aquatoy store. awesoem boats, but i dont fit in either one, so we didnt take them for a test ride. they said the new 38 was coming out for the miami show with the new merc 600's, shoudl be awesome.

Re: Donzi's New 35ZR (Running)
Nice pics, appreciate that. gives us an oppurtunity to get an idea of the lines of the boat.
LinB, what do you mean tou didn't "fit" ? |
Re: Donzi's New 35ZR (Running)
wheni was sitting at the helm, my knee was wedged into the dash and the steering wheel. its not a full drop down bolster either, only the front part drops down so i could staand up and back. Im 6'4 220 though. mostly in my legs. same thing with the 38 zr with the footrests all the way back.
|
Re: Donzi's New 35ZR (Running)
I'm 6'5" and 235 so I know what you are saying.
I can't do the Fountain thing either. One of the reasons I chose the Formula is that the helm area is large and open for a boat this size. The ability to drop my legs a foot into the floor, have the seat back and bottom in all the right places, (be well in the boat for the rough), and sit comfortably for lazy cruising is great. The controls all fall in hand no matter where you are. This is a premier charm of the Formula. The McLeod seats and footrests spoil you. :D |
Re: Donzi's New 35ZR (Running)
You can get different seats they put in ZX seats that are full drop, thats how I am getting mine
