Looking for a solid offshore vbottom single 496ho brand new that can take the ocean. Should it be sit down or stand up, and what types of speed should I see?

28 AT First Choice (yeah its a little bigger, but worth it over the 25 AT).
26 Sonic Second Choice

A new 26 Sonic should scare 70 mph with a 496 HO in ideal conditions; 65mph everyday.

I know you said 26' limit but the 27' activator hands down best rough water boat for its size. It would run around 82-85 mph with a 496HO.

If I had my pick it would be a Pantera24 in your size range, but personally would go for the 28.

Thanks for the input, just got rid of my 28 with twin 550s and need something reliable, single engine, that I can beat up with nothing breaking! I would love to have more power, but the warranty is important to me after going through my last boats headaches. Does anyone build like a mini gladiator or mini poker run (gtx), model so that I can have that "look of a bigger boat"???

Both the Pantera28 and Activator 27 are single engine in this case, can take more beating than most people can stand. I know the Pantera can be optioned with twins, and I am sure the Activator can as well. These are even "bigger" looking in person. Should look at these two in person. You will see the quality you are looking for.

How about a custom made 28' Pantera with this racier configuration powered by a single 525 EFI with a 1 year warranty.Boat would have a custom rear beanch and offered with a half cabin upon request.

I have this 2000 28' model available powered by a single 900 HP blower motor ( pump gas )with a speedmaster 3A drive. Boat will run in the mid 90s on GPS and has less than 100 hours on it. Boat is a 10. Includes : Auto Meter liquid filled gauges,Latham Steering and throttles, 380S K-planes, custom paint, 3 man bolster with custom rear bench,Stainless Marine Big Tube exhaust , Pirelli rubber flooring with padding , and full hand laid race lamination.

One very important boat everyone is forgetting and its a proven race winner...Kryptonite...comes in a 27 or a 29 with integrated platform...killer running and riding boats and if ya really must have something smaller lets not forget superboats

28' Pantera full pleasure version with full cabin powered by a single 496 HO - 425 Mercruiser package. Go to www.Panteraboats.com and see specs. and more pics. there.

Speeds with a 496 HO in a "full pleasure" configuration in the mid 60s on GPS. It is a big 28' with no platform included in that length.The 24' model powered by a single 496 HOs will run well in to the mid to upper 70s on GPS.

I have a 26 Donzi ZX, Solid Heavy and one of the few boats under 28ft to run 1000 Islands Poker Run. I run the boat hard and she gives me know problems. Ran side by side with Randy (Typhoon Racing) from the Sea Side Heights race 2 years ago in 5ft rollers at 60mph watched a 25 Baja next to me trying to keep up and his boat started to come apart. I felt bad for the Medics I had aboard even though they were egging me on, I knew it was a rough ride back 15 miles back to the inlet of solid air! The boat made a believer out of me.

the only thing with kryptonite and activator is cabin area,if that is important to you,not much room down there compared to others ,but still great runnin boats.

mike, it has an hp 500, and I am getting 72 on the gps, and that is a real 72, no bs, smoked alot of guys that claim they are running faster.

I think it would be difficult to go wrong with an ACTIVE THUNDER, PANTERA or SONIC.
I know these builders and their boats. I have surveyed many of them of assorted vintages and they seem to age quite nicely with the minimum of upkeep.
Speak to Patrick at AT, Jo or Pepe at Pantera, (mother and wife Linda is a doll), and Sean at Sonic. Tell them what you have in mind and they'll work for you.

not just because i'm partial but its the nicest riding, best handling boat under 30ft that i've been in except for the 28 pantera. and the only place the pantera shined was in real snotty water 4-6's other than that...if i stay with a V i'll go to a 33 AVS if not either an AMT or a Spectre...just my .02

I have not been in Dave M 's Superboat, but I know he has had it in some nasty stuff, and he boats EVERY WEEKEND religiously. I have been in a 25 Sunsation (same hull derivitive) in 4-5 footers and we made it back safe and sound.

Every one of these boats that have been listed are great boats. If you want a serious performance boat built to withstand anything you have to look at a Progression. They are fast no matter how you set them up.
