I have an S20 but I can never seem to get close enough. The shots always look distant. I know those cameras and they are not cheap, what lens are you using, it looks like a nice telephoto.

On most of the race shots I was using a 100/400 with image stabilization, the choper shots of the poker run was a 28/135 with IS. You can pick some reaaly good used canon cameras D30, D60 or 10D then you use any of their lens
