Default New Stereo system

I want to scrap the old system and replace it with a complete system possibly 6- 6.5", 2- 10" subs, amps, and the head unit CD with Sirrius satelite. I also want to put a remote at the swim platform and one at the dash. What type of system do you guys think would work perfect in my 32' Fountain Fever. I was thinking of the Clarion. Anybody know of a good shop for the purchase and install. I would like to stay under $2K

For waterproof remotes then your only option that I am aware of is Clarion. They also are Sirrius sat radio.

As for the speakers do you want to build boxes for your speakers?

I think Senor Stereo on S Dixie has the Clarion stuff. They did a couple marine installs for a friend, looks to be good work...

I saw on ship shape a new full marine stereo with a floating submersible remote.I have had a lot of stereos in boats in the years and was never impressed with the sound or the longevity of them over a nonmarine, but the constructiion of this particular one plus a fully submersible faceplate impressed me.Now if I could only remember the brand.Their known for their marine speakers and I am sure westmarine carries it .

Sony makes a nice head unit with a nice dash remote. However, I do not believe it is waterproof, and I know you can only have one per system. Clarion will let you chain a couple of remotes. Sony is also married to XM. I went with Sony as I already had some sony products, and I like the headunit that has 3 sets of 4VDC pre-amp outputs.

I just had a brain fart and rememberd the brand I was talking about.Poly Planar is the brand. They sell this brand at west marine and boaters world.I have found BOATERSWORLD to be cheaper than west marine if you do not have a commercial account. The unit is totally sealed front and back, with an external heatsink on the back.Another neat feature is the remote can be pointed at the speakers and it will control the main head unit.Hope this helps you out.

I am putting the head unit in the gally, and I was not going to box the speakers. I was goint to put the subs under the rear bench, and the 6.5's somewhere? ( two below cabin and four out around cockpit.

If you are not going to box in the speakers then the best that I have found for Subs is the Clarions. Unfortunatly we seem to no longer be able to get the Babbs. The Clarion components are actually decent as well. You can take a look at all their stuff at www.clarion.com. If you really want to step it up go with the MB Quarts.
