Powerboat magazine published a similar picture a while back, but I believe it was a different boat.

Nope...same boat...they had an explanation also. It's the Lucas Scarab (Nigel Hook).

It was in Powerboat last year from one of the races (maybe Orange Beach, but I'm not sure). I pretty sure that it was a full page pic. Maybe someone here saves their old mags and can look through them for ya.
