Pearl Harbour was one of the greatest military failures of all time......by Japan!

The Japanese military strategist who planned the attack asked the excited admirals 1) did you get the carriers? No, they were not there. 2) did you at least get the huge fuel tanks without which the ENTIRE american fleet would have to return to the U.S. mainland? Err, no, the yanks put up too heavy a resistance to risk the third wave which was supposed to take out ALL the American fuel supplies at the unprotected fuel dumps.

At this point the Japanese strategist burst into tears, proclaiming the entire attack a massive failure. He was right of course. I can't remember his name at the moment.

Well.............it was 63 years ago. 63+18=81 How many 81 year olds are there on OSO besides TooOld? Well, I learned more about it today thanks to the Internet.

By the way.........here's a thought:
===============================

A college student challenged a senior citizen, saying it was impossible for their generation to understand his.

"You grew up in a different world," the student said. "Today we have television, jet planes, space travel, nuclear energy, computers..."

Taking advantage of a pause in the student's litany, the geezer said, "You're right. We didn't have those things when we were young; so we invented them! What the hell are you doing for the next generation??"

Damn, I love senior citizens!
