I won't mention the make, but two guys looked a bit green when their 38 ish step bottom kept catching the steps on waves and skidding the stern sideways at 112 MPH. I am sure it added a great deal to the thrill of it all, but........a straight bottom Apache or Sonic looks even better now. Or, keep those step bottoms under 80 until you get proficient at catching and correcting the stern sliding all over the place when you least expect it.

CBR, I have driven several different makes of V hulls over 100, amd I fail to experience what you are talking about. I have been as fast as 130 in a v bottom, and never skidded sideways. Perhaps biased opinion, or driver error fall into play in this conversation. It is strictly a matter of preforance.
I personally have experienced 100 in a 39 Ol, and in 6 -8's (see robb report) it handeled like my old 51, solid!

On the trailer in A Bay. Anyone know if it sold, and for how much?

Well my Nor-tech runs about 98 and it feels the same as it does when running 65 so unless it gets a lot worse with 2 more mph I am happy with the step bottom.

I think all the boats feel diff. at 100+. The ride varies (sport/lux), but if they are stable - they are stable. One example is the 42 Lightning. You can almost take your hands off the wheel at 100. The 35 is a little scary at 90+. I was just on a 38 TS Gun that felt great at 102-103 w/ nat asp'd 750 ZUL's.

Remember when 60 was fast in a v-bottom??
