Unveiling the New Boat! Wanna See?
 

Here it is, guys! This is the preliminary paint job and we still have some tweaking to do. We're thinking of lightening up the green a bit. Also, we might do away with most of the white and use all green and yellow. We don't like the big chunk of dark green behind the capsules.

Anybody want to play with it in Photoshop? I've been working on it a bit....I'll post more as I get them. And by no means did we do this ourselves, APA Labs did the ground work.

i'm no good at photoshop but if you could fade the yellow to green on the engine hatches that would be pretty cool.... looks good though

Too busy , ? maybe, it got corporate to write checks. Please help. Give me more ideas. I like the fade idea. PLease I value your opinions . I need comments, negative or positive.

It does look alittle too 'busy', IMHO I would make 'Popeye's' more pronounced. Definately lose the solid green on the hatches. Blend more color in over the tunnel, maybe a faded yellow.

it's busy stan, almost looks like the inside of the store. too much food and people :D i would stay away from the solid break points in the color, more fading .

It was designed in 1 day by A.B.A. The people who do the walls inside of the stores. I am definitly going to change it but I needed a prelim for a sponsorship package. I know if I can get everyone to chime in I can get some great ideas. Thanks for the opinions. I know I need help. I need it to get the sponsors message out but at the same time I do but don't want to look like a billboard.

Take the green off the hatch. Do the side in vinyl so it will peel off later. Both side are plenty for Popeye's and leave the hatch for another sponsor.

On the rear dark green hatches, I think fading it from yellow to the orange on the back end would make the most sense. There is already enough going on, so those hatches dont really need to be a different color.

I agree with previous comments. Lose the food items and people. Blend the colors in a gradient to eliminate hard line transition, even the yellow corner drop along the side of the hull. Interior store design would call for hard edges, but on a boat I think it needs more "blurred blending" for a lack of a better expression. Ask them for more ideas in the way of contemporary design.

If you want to highlight "spicy" as in their chicken, put a red-hot chili pepper somewhere, the red might be a nice contrast color to add. Curious though, the corporate colors appear to be yellow, red and blue, with purple. Don't see the connection to green currently found on the hatches. http://popeyes.com/index.asp

Whatever we might think, the boat is indeed a billboard to support a brand name and image. On a state-of-the-art offshore performance boat, I think those which display contemporary, clean, short/sweet and to the point graphics are most recognized. They should be easy to read, go larger with the Popeyes name on the side.

Good luck with the sponsorship, looking forward to seeing the new boat out there next year.

Remind the designer that people will not be looking at the boat from 15 feet away while walking 0.25 miles per hour. Make the logo bigger and clean up the "clutter" to enhance the visibility from 300 yards while the boat is doing (enter your own number here_____) miles per hour.

Personally, I would double the size of the logo and lose all the other clutter and crap.
Change the hatches to a yellow to orange fade to match the boats colors. Slap a big old POPEYE character in the middle of the deck opening a big can of WHOOPASS instead of spinach.Can in one hand, chicken drumstick in the other :)

busy. damn getting dizzy looking at loose the food and the people for sure. i don't think green works at all with the white yellow, and orange. use more fading on color transitions. ratman

Stan asked me to post the pics of the Murals in the new Heritage Popeyes, and an exterior shot of the new store. Colors are green, dark red, golds, etc. They are moving away from King Syndicates Popeye Character ( I don't know why) and using more food and Bayou characters. I think the boat 'should' look like a billboard, but that's just me!

Please do not take this the wrong way but the first thing I thought of when I saw the front sponson was that it looked like a steaming pile of crap...... I am talking about the area after the 13 and just before the P on Popeye. As has been said I would try and get the logo bigger (don;t think they will mind that one bit..., and then more along the lines of what Team Baja was thinking.... Sorry to be so hash about the steamer there :D:D :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

I did the thing in the back to it --got rid of the green, but my friend is like 5 min away so I didnt spend any time on it!

Tomorrow night when I get up here ill try to do some stuff and take out people etc... but here is what I did tonight... not very good but oh well.
