Aero Speed Marine (Doug Jr and Sr) Build an awesome boat from design to construction. The main difference in the race results is WHO is running the boat. Gary Ballough could win stock class in my 24' Skater. Doug Kelly did so well because of 2 things propellers and holding the sticks DOWN. It is gonna be a whole differt thing with 3 more 32s running this year. I don't expect or plan on them filling out the top 5 boats at ANY race.

Ryan It sounds as though you plan to really go for it this year. I know you feel that you were gaining on it toward the end of the season. You guys looked great in the last race in KW to bad you broke. Best of luck and stay safe.
The Hulk seemed to have some reliably issues last year. Maybe that what happens when you just hold the sticks down. But they looked great when they were running |

The HULK also had the ONLY set of Herring propellers around.

He also said it in a way that seemed to make more sense, but that was the general gist of what I got out of the conversation. Any time there is part of the hull that extends past the lip of the mold, it makes it really tough to pull out. If not impossible. I'm glad to see another competitor out there. I like this boat....I'll be following it closely. |

What brands of Props have you chosen to run with??? Hydromotive, Mercury, or something else???? Anyone in the class ever try using Dave Dewald from Pennsylvania. He use to do my props when I ran outboard tunnel??? I know he does mostly outboard props for the outboard tunnel boat circuits. |

To answer your question about the methods of calculating stresses on a race boat? Mark Bishop uses a Finite Element Analysis program to help assist with mathematical calculations to design laminate schedules for the manufacturers, which is an excellent place to start, but the failure of past race boats & what caused the failure is another excellent tool to help with the structural design. BradH, The 38' Aero Speed Marine is built in a three piece mold that spits at the keel. |

I would imagine that coring a hull with so many compound curves would also be a little more difficult than on a design with lots of nice hard angles. |
