Record for pontoon boats is like 88mph or so!!! Picture I saw of one running that speed at Lake of the Ozarks shootout looked like it was about to take flight!! Wish I saved it.

There was one at the Baltimore Boat show a few years ago by Bass Tracker I think that had the world record at 112mph, had triple's on it. NUTS!!!!

Re: Yikeeeessssss.

Playcraft is the company that pretty much made the term "performance pontoon" a reality, when they designed and pattened some fins that are welded the full length of the logs to provide lift, so it gets on top of the water. I don't have a new one with the twins, but my old '98 with a single 200 EFI runs 50 MPH GPS with two people in it. Now it won't handle the huge 6 footers but here at LOTO with lots of rought chop it does great. Once up and running the fins besides providing lift, also keep the boat smooth, but resisting movement up or down. Of course all the pontoon mfgrs. are now copying the design to compete. Actually one hellova ride.
John.

Elkhart – A pontoon company has sped its way into the Guinness book of world records. Forest River has been building a twin motor Odyssey boat with one thing in mind: breaking the speed record of 73 miles per hour.

With some revving of the engine, the boat became the world's fastest pontoon boat. 77.9 miles per hour is the record breaking speed, reached on the St. Joseph River.

that is cruise speed for todays sport-toon's..... :D

That is some cool chit!! The man that holds the speed record for a pontoon is named Brad Rowland, This may have been surpassed but this was in a Poker Runs mag

I had checked their site and not found anything either. I plan on being there this coming year and try to get some better shots. The weather kind of sucked last year. :drink:

If you take into account that there are many performance boats which run 80 mph and under.........IMHO, the most fun you could have on one of these rigs is passing all of them and seeing the expressions on people's faces in getting passed by a freakin pontoon boat!! :D

my spectre will run north of 100 and it took everybit of 2/3 throttle to take care of one of those guys last summer... he rolled up on me doing about 65 or so and hammered it and i had to get into pretty hard to take care of him.... you don't want to go back to the docks after getting beaten by a pontoon boat!!!

I think you just tell the agent you bought a pontoon boat and I am sure it would be about the 10th of the cost for a cat :D :drink:
