Then the guy at the boat show is looking at a boat with a pair of those under the hatch thinking there's $128,000 in motors alone on this boat, this would allow a dealer to use this in a sales pitch of "what a great deal he's giving you".
Bingo ............

If you really know anything about powerboats you could build ( or have one built) for less than that. But...... they are selling the warranty. myself, I'd rather build it and know I have exactly what I want, and also know how to treat it accordingly.

I for one was hoping the new motor for merc was going to be a 600 hp 572 ci mpi. So I could get one in a 42 fountain lighting and then have it wippeled for about 900 hp.Ya baby!!! Dream on.

Then buy the boat with 496 HO's in it and have them install the XR drives and take the savings and build a Killer set of 1000's and you will have 2 sets of motors for about the same money.

I had to chuckle when I read the article on those engines in a 382 Formula. I had a 382 built with "someone else's" 600's five years ago. The engines weren't blue, they weren't supercharged, they were all good parts (GM/Crower/JE/Crane/Mellings/Holley/Sen-Dure), 540 cubic inches, injected, freshwater cooled, came with full-length Stellings headers, a 1-year warranty and drives that will (and do) handle full-throttle starts.

For $20,000 less.

PER ENGINE.

At $64,000 a side, 600SCii's are not a joke - they're a crime.

How reliable have those engines been?
