New Tmp Motors!
The verdict is in. We just finished dyno runs on our new TMP quad rotor whipples.
1193 Hp at 6250 on 91 Octane Pump Gas at 9.9#'s of boost. 1414 HP on a 50/50 mix of 91 octane and 110 race gas with smaller pulleys. The only thing you do to step up 200HP is change the pulleys and go one range colder on the plugs and the ECM compensates for everything else. I want to publicly thank Eddie and Steve for an UNBELIEVABLE set up. EDDIE.....YOU DA MAN!!!!! |
Re: New Tmp Motors!
Post some specs on motor.

Re: New Tmp Motors!
598 Inch pump gas poker run motors. I will post the dyno sheets when I get them scanned where I can upload them.

congrats man . . .very impressive for sure  |
Re: New Tmp Motors!
43 foot Nortech Cat. We went down and rode in the Cyclone boat and the tmp motors were awesome. Idled like an hp500 with no blower surge. We have had KE, Sterling, and merc and none of them could hold a candle to the drivability of these motors. It is killing us because it will be march before everything is finished.

Re: New Tmp Motors!
what's a pair of those cost? Ballpark?
|
Re: New Tmp Motors!
They were very very competitve with other builders in this hp range. We bought these based on the power, driveability, and longer service intervals compared to anything else out there. Apples to apples there was no other competition. The ecu's in these motors are absolutely "dialed in". I also looked at another pair of these over a 2 year period at 100 and 200 hour intervals after dissasembly and they were immaculate. After looking into the oil filter after the intial dyno run, there was nothing in the filter but a tiny bit of lint. We watched this motor program for 2 years before this step. TMP has also built 2 other sets of engines 540's for me for other boats and they are awesome. We put a lot of hours on every season and dependability was a key factor.

Happiness is a 1414 HP Dyno run! Here is a picture of the dyno screen on the very first run where it made 1185.4 at 6300 before a couple of adjustments. It will be Monday before I get to the office and scan the other sheets.

Re: New Tmp Motors!
hurry up & put those killer valve covers on,those are hurting my eyes!!!!
|
Re: New Tmp Motors!
We did not want to scratch them! Those will go on when they are headed for the bilge!
|
Re: New Tmp Motors!
good call
|
Re: New Tmp Motors!
What efi system did you use?
|
Re: New Tmp Motors!
Thanks John and everyone. We've been working on the development of these engines for over a year. This engine package is dialed in, and ready for the Poker runs.
They are 598's, Hydraulic Roller, pump gas 91 octane, ( but could run on 87 in a pinch). The computers are Mercruiser with a custom designed program, wiring harness, injector system and fuel system.( This allows them to be serviced by any Mercruiser dealer) Tests have yielded only oil changes and transmission service over 100 hr intervals. We are currently building another set for our shop boat that we will stretch to 150+ Hrs. before rebuilds. We will also hopefully be debuting a new 1600HP engine at the Miami Boat Show. TMP |
Re: New Tmp Motors!
Which Mercruiser system?
|
Re: New Tmp Motors!
Considering they are a hydraulic roller set up, what hp are you developing at 5200-5300 as that is probably the max extended operating rpm?
|
Re: New Tmp Motors!
I'm green with envy! Very Nice.

Hey,TMP, PM me a ballpark price on a pair of these. Dynoe'd and shipped on a pallet ready for installation. Complete bobtail with flywheel, alternator, raw pump, etc. |
Re: New Tmp Motors!
The engines made over 1000HP from 4600 to wide open. At 5300, they made over 1100HP. The lifters we use are good for 6300 RPM's. We've tested them in engines for over 100 hrs w/ no problems at all. They are custom built for us.
We use both the MEFI3 and 4 depending on the application. |
Re: New Tmp Motors!
totalmp-- you guys are awesome. I will definately look at you guys next time I need motors.
|
Re: New Tmp Motors!
So you are saying that if one were to purchase some engines, run them at 5700 for an hour or so in a poker run and a lifter comes apart, it is covered and warrantible failure? Everyone has been saying the lifters are good to 6000 or ? when things come apart it is like it's the first time. If we actually have hydraulics capable of 6300 for a sustained period I would say the solid roller market is going to take a hit. However, 1100 at 5300 is not bad! :D
|
Re: New Tmp Motors!
Yes, lifter failure is covered under the warranty, but I can assure you that no one is going to be able to hold on to these for an hour in a poker run, because they'd be all by themselves at the end of the run. They would have traveled over 160 miles.
We could also just call them 1000's, and only spin them 4600. |
Re: New Tmp Motors!
What do you have in the 540 or 572/598 single 3.3l whipple EFI?
|
Re: New Tmp Motors!
We do a 557 c.i. single 3.3 that makes a very conservative 850HP @ 5400 RPM's.
We also offer a 598c.i. single 3.3 that does over 900HP at 5500 RPM very conservatively also. Both come with all the amenities and custom accessories of the larger versions for a very reasonable price compared to Mercury and other builders. |
Re: New Tmp Motors!
why wouldn't you just go with a mechanical rather than a hydraulic setup?
|
Re: New Tmp Motors!
Our customers want to spend their time riding, not setting valves. The maintenance is higher for mechanical. We were trying to develop a very low maintenance High HP engine. The hydraulic lifters work great, we've never had a problem.
We will be introducing a solid roller version very soon that will be 1600+HP |
Re: New Tmp Motors!
That's what I figured. Thanks

Re: New Tmp Motors!
That 43 Nor-tech with those numbers would be the ultimate machine in my opinion.
What about a n/a 580+ inch motor? I would be very interested in that. Carbs suck. :D :drink: :drink: |
Re: New Tmp Motors!
Could you pm me an eastimate on the price of two Quad rotor set-ups for 598's with brodix heads. I need from intake up including the moac(sorry about spelling) intercooler. You may also want to give me a price on going through my motors.I am going to order a set this week because I talked to Dustin yesterday and he said he was out but would have more in a week or two. Thanks in advance.

Re: New Tmp Motors!
SO,
We do a 598 c.i. multi port injection. The engine is hydraulic roller, and makes a very conservative 750HP @ 5400 RPM's. It comes with a 1 year warranty. |
Re: New Tmp Motors!

Summer Obsesion, these are the motors Steve is talkin about. 598CI 750hp
|
Re: New Tmp Motors!
SO, I have a pair of 750 EFI in my 43 Black Thunder and I am very pleased with them. Joe Murray. And yes they do stand behind their work.
|
Re: New Tmp Motors!
6250 RPMs with nearly 10 lbs. of boost.
How long do you expect them to live? |
Re: New Tmp Motors!
10 lbs is not that high of boost on a quad rotor blower setup. They are much more efficient
|
Re: New Tmp Motors!
Sweet stuff.
It's about time someone takes the time and effort to dial in an efi n/a set up. Jassman: Lemme guess, there is a 43 cat in your future? You lucky S.O.B.!!! I wanna ride. :drink: :drink: Yes, I will buy the fuel. And I DO know about what it costs! :D :D :drink: With the crowd I hang with, it's cheaper to buy the fuel than pay the bar tab.   :D |
Re: New Tmp Motors!
What compression are those Quad-rotor motors.
|
Re: New Tmp Motors!
The compression is set up very conservatively. The key to valve guides, as well as the entire engine is proper clearances and extreme cleanliness.

Nothing like a 100 mph condo, huh Jeff!? :D
Sounds like it is going to be a beast, can't wait to see it! |
