Re: Old staggered 38 Cig on Ebay
That is a one off boat. The forward deck looks like a flat deck. The dash is totally different then a flat deck, And the back around the hatches is different. I don't think it's a Cig.

Re: Old staggered 38 Cig on Ebay
it's a flat deck with a custom faring...not a top gun :)

Re: Old staggered 38 Cig on Ebay
I have a pic somewhere of Another Bad Move. I will have to look for it.
It must be a custom deck from the fairing back to the transom |

Re: Old staggered 38 Cig on Ebay
The first Ohio Steel was a full race Flat deck 38 but I don't think that was it? It was all black and I beliveve it still is around the FPC runs. Skip Kriner throttled it back then.

Re: Old staggered 38 Cig on Ebay
That is correct, it is not a Top Gun. It is one of the 18 38' Cigarettes old style race boats built based on Jerry Jacoby's Ajac Hawk. I looked at this boat in New Jersey 3 years ago before it was redone. I was told by a number of people on the race circuit that the deck was peeled off in a Key West race. From what I could see from up inside, it appeared that the deck had been repaired.
I'm not throwing the guy under the bus, it is a very cool boat and I've always loved this model. But as with any ex-raceboat, buyers have to be aware that many were run VERY hard. Plus #4 outdrive parts are hard to get, so that is a big consideration. |
Re: Old staggered 38 Cig on Ebay
Another Bad Move was a black boat with flames and was from South Jersey (Franklin Township - Clayton area) They use to run Superboat sanctioned events.

Re: Old staggered 38 Cig on Ebay
This is the same boat. Joe bought the old Ohio Steel from John Rebhan. repainted it, and renamed it 'Another Bad Move'. When Joe was selling the boat, he had the body shop he owns paint it all white. Apparently the current owner bought the boat from Joe.
