Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

Wildcat is a great boat, I would go for it :drink:

dreamer 01-09-2005 08:34 PM

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

wildcat is nice but im not crazy about the colors... red and yellow interior

GATORONE 01-09-2005 08:41 PM

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

Well the exterior is easy enough to change, the interior could be a little expensive. The boats handle rough water well

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

Dreamer let me know what you think i have been talking to randy as well about trading out of a 35ft fountain. i have been having those same questions. the only difference if how will it run in lake Michigan...

GATORONE 01-09-2005 09:24 PM

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

It will do much better than the fountain. I traded out of a 35 lightning with 575's for my first 36 Nor-Tech

BZ 01-09-2005 09:30 PM

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

better rough water boat????

Sean H 01-09-2005 09:33 PM

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

do it.... i will never go back to the vee, aka, the slow-side.... :D

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

We had Randy's boat at the Toronto PROA event and it did great. I have been in 3-5's on a number of occassions and the boat always flys very level.

BZ 01-09-2005 09:36 PM

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

how do you handle ins.???

GATORONE 01-09-2005 09:37 PM

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

What power are you looking at?

BZ 01-09-2005 09:40 PM

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

small stuff by what i see on line, 525's and its..per randy still should run thought your thoughts

Sean H 01-09-2005 09:42 PM

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

insurance w/ 525's shouldn't be a problem with plenty of boating exp and no claims.... :D

BZ 01-09-2005 09:45 PM

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

lots of boating expirence and "zero" claims just very skeptical about those cats.....

GATORONE 01-09-2005 09:47 PM

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

I have big power and no lay up so my insurance is high. Worldwide is probably the best to get a quote through. The 525 boats run good and are very dependable and you are dealing with a very stand up guy in Randy.

GATORONE 01-09-2005 09:48 PM

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

That helps

Sean H 01-09-2005 09:48 PM

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

i got one and it was no problem, it is just gonna cost you a little more... keep the power mild and it isn't a big deal, now get 1000HP and above, $$$$$$$

GATORONE 01-09-2005 09:50 PM

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

exactly

BZ 01-09-2005 09:52 PM

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

yeah bob l is already my ins. guy but its a big change from what i am use to on my 2nd fountain and love the thing but as everyone knows always want to go faster. a big concern is reliability i do not want to work on the boat all week to get it ready for the week-end that is the big reason for the 525's

LostinBoston 01-09-2005 09:54 PM

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

I got a 36 w/525's from Randy in december. Awesome boat. great to deal with. The boat is amazing in rough water. I was very skeptical about a cat but am very happy we went with one, espceially the nortech. Its heavy wide and has a high freeboard which make it handle much better in rough water.
Insurance for me was tough becaue im 21 with no cat experience. I took Tres Martins course though so now i can get insurance. I highly reccomend taking the course, not only for insurance purposes, but no matter how long youve been boating, you will learn a tremendous amount. Call SY Goldberg at total dollar about insurance

GATORONE 01-09-2005 09:55 PM

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

That boat will run 100+ with no problem, with a great cruise speed

BZ 01-09-2005 09:57 PM

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

is it a tough change i haven't driven a boat sitting down in years go all the way back to the begining. ie 19ft open bow on a inland lake and i didn't like it then?????

GATORONE 01-09-2005 09:57 PM

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

Lost
Is sy writing cats now, and how much did tres martin's class save you

GATORONE 01-09-2005 10:00 PM

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

Not at all bacause the boat has such great visibility and you never carry the bow like you would in a V bottom. The boats get on plane at around 15 mph

BZ 01-09-2005 10:02 PM

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

15mph. ????? tab setting?? drive settings ??? and do you realy use those mirrors????

GATORONE 01-09-2005 10:06 PM

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

drives down tabs wherever and the mirrors are great when you are in a pack

21? i thought i was getting screwed for being 28 when i bought my cat, i can't imagine the chit they gave you... i want to take that class too, hopefully i can fit it in my busy schedule of post whoring on here.....

BZ 01-09-2005 10:11 PM

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

at 100+ you prob do not spend much time in the middle of the pack and that is the main reason for the cat just still not sold on the rough water ride. randy said we could take one out, i will be in miami fro the show. not much call for boat rides in chicago in jan. that might be the key.

GATORONE 01-09-2005 10:13 PM

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

I can promise you that you will leave amazed

BZ 01-09-2005 10:13 PM

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

also anyone tow one on a regular basis??? that thing is wide and is that a problem

GATORONE 01-09-2005 10:18 PM

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

I don't have a problem. I am taking the boat to Havasue, loto, smoke on the water,1000 Islands and many more, once you get used to the width its not bad

BZ 01-09-2005 10:19 PM

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

did you run it a smoke last summer???

GATORONE 01-09-2005 10:21 PM

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

No, but its on my schedule for this year

BZ 01-09-2005 10:23 PM

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

went for the 1st time last year best run i have ever been on. like the loto thing for just some good old fashion fun. i guess i just need a push for the whole cat thing like the idea of 100+

Sean H 01-09-2005 10:24 PM

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

10'9" is pushing it on the highway in legal terms, most places probably will let it slide but they could get ya on it technically...

GATORONE 01-09-2005 10:27 PM

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

You will get that push when you go for a ride. My wife won't even hardly ride in a V bottom anymore

BZ 01-09-2005 10:30 PM

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

that would be a big selling point on my end as well, i will let you know what happens. can't pull the cat trigger after all of those v bottems

fstboater 01-09-2005 10:39 PM

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

The ride will impress you it gets you on top of the water sitting down wont be much of a adjustment. I haven't been in a 35 Nortec but the 50 will take any thing you can throw at it my old Chris Cat takes the ruff stuff at LOTO a lot better than the 30 ft Formula that I had. Nortecs are very solid and the construction looks top notch best of luck with insurance.

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

i'm sure it's a great boat buti'm a vee man and beside that how can ya trade on your family

Re: opinions needed: going to a cat maybe

Dreamer get the cat I have had 3 V bottoms and the 39MTI gives me the best ride. From what I see the Nortecs are a great boat. You raced the difference between a F Ford and a GTP car. Bill
