The way I see it, it would be a project boat, ripe for some Fresh, Biggie Motors, Budget, Mark IV, 496s (maybe with some head porting and big Hyd. roller cams??), Under $15k for both, and be done under $40k w 1100+ HP
The TRS drives can handle some torque.

This one has "fresh 540s" for $77K

With a pair of New, (Biggie) dart block 572s, he'd still be 30K ahead after the repower (in a 88 year older boat) or $45K ahead with the budget 496s

This one's closer to my driving route

Last time I checked, these sterndrives were car motors, I think that's why they call them "Chevy".
The coast guard requires 3 parts, a Carb, Flame Arrestor and Distributer.
Other then the clearences etc, how it is built,
they are all car motors.

Don't forget a marine starter and alternator.

Marine starter and Altenator, we are up to 5 parts.
At the risk of hyjacking the thread, have we left anything else out?
